(Minghui.org) Three residents of the Chuxiong Prefecture in Yunnan Province were recently sentenced to prison for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Zhu Zhongfu and his wife Ms. Li Weiping, both 67, and Mr. Wang Guohua, 55, were arrested on May 14, 2020 for talking to people about Falun Gong. The police ransacked their homes and held them at Chuxiong City Detention Center.

Judge Yu Ping of Dayao County Court recently sentenced Mr. Zhu to six years with a 6,000-yuan fine, Ms. Li to four years with a 4,000-yuan fine, and Mr. Wang to one and a half years with a 2,000-yuan fine.

Past Persecution of Mr. Zhu

Mr. Zhu, a retired employee of the City Planning and Architectural Design and Research Institute in Panzhihua, Sichuan Province, was previously given one and a half years of forced labor in 2005, after being arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong. His term was extended for six months as he refused to renounce his faith.

Mr. Zhu was arrested again on April 27, 2014 for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. He was sentenced to three years by the Chuxiong Prefecture Court in December 2014.
