Australia: Politicians and the Public Support Efforts to End Persecution in China

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners in Queensland, Australia held activities in Brisbane’s city center on July 16, 2022 to protest the persecution and clarify the truth about the persecution in China.

Practitioners held activities in Brisbane to tell people about the persecution.

They demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises and collected signatures on a petition to end the persecution at Brisbane Square in the morning. That afternoon they held a parade throughout the city center. Many people stopped and watched. Several people took photographs and applauded. Some even joined the parade to support the practitioners.

Michael Berkman, Greens MP for Maiwar in Queensland, Australia and a Queensland Greens’ spokesperson for climate action, jobs, justice and the environment, sent a support letter to the organizer of the July 20^th activities.

In his letter Mr. Berkman wrote, “The 20^th of July 2022 marks the 23^rd anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party’s brutal persecution of innocent Falun Gong practitioners in China. On this day every year, Falun Gong practitioners all around the world hold activities to mourn fellow practitioners who have died and suffered from this persecution. It is also a day (when) we call for an end to this brutality.”

“I join Falun Dafa practitioners in their call for an end to violence and persecution. I send my support to those who will be mourning in Brisbane on the 16^th of July. Please accept my condolences.”

Local Man Joins the Parade to Show Support

Mr. Steven John Delaag from Australia’s Gold Coast showed his support by joining the parade

Mr. Steven John Delaag from the Gold Coast noticed the Falun Dafa booth before the parade. After learning the facts about the persecution he decided to participate in the parade.

He acknowledged the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and said, “People should do more to end the persecution so that we can have a better world and this is also for our next generation. People won’t be aware of this persecution if we didn’t do something to help end the persecution and it will continue.”

Steven recently had hip surgery and was still recovering, but he walked the entire parade route. He held the banner high all the way and attracted people’s attention by waving to them.

Afterwards, he said he felt peaceful and happy. He said that he felt like he was practitioner. He wished practitioners great success, and said, “A small activity was the beginning of a big event and would have huge impact.”

Primary School Teacher: Evil Will Eventually be Stopped

Mr. Foss, a primary school teacher, stopped to watch the parade and thanked practitioners for their courage in spreading the truth.

Mr. Foss is a primary school teacher and said he was shocked when he read the information on the banners. He read them carefully and took the flier a practitioner offered him.

He said, “This parade is different from any parade I’ve seen. Practitioners are very peaceful even though they are protesting the persecution. Their calm demeanor must be related to Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and is very unique.” He said he admired practitioners.

He said that it was inconceivable for people who live in democratic countries to hear that people who believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance would be persecuted for 23 years, “The CCP’s evilness will be stopped because righteousness will prevail.” He thanked practitioners for their courage and letting more people know the truth. He encouraged practitioners to keep doing what they have been doing and wished them good luck.

People Help Spread the Truth and Support Falun Gong Practitioners to Counter the Persecution

Sarah said that freedom and human rights must be respected.

Sarah is a beautician. She grew up in Australia but her family is Kurdish. She said that the Kurdish people treasure freedom and human rights very much.

She read the display boards and fliers carefully and expressed her sympathy for practitioners, “They should have freedom to practice Falun Dafa, and this right must be respected. The CCP is committing crimes by persecuting them. Communism is a threat to the whole world.” She said that in order to change this situation we must educate people and place our hope in the young generation.

She urged young people to think independently and learn the truth and not to be brainwashed by authoritarian regimes. She said that she would tell people the facts about Falun Gong and signed the petition to end the persecution.

Assistant Engineer Margarita agrees that Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are universal values

Margarita is an assistant engineer in a mine company. She expressed her great sympathy towards Falun Gong practitioners who have been persecuted for 23 years.

She said, “The principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance that Falun Gong promotes are universal values and closely related to traditional culture. This persecution is a human rights catastrophe.

She explained that her friends watched Shen Yun and learned the truth about Falun Gong. She signed the petition to show her support for practitioners. She took many fliers and a lot of photos. She said she would upload them to her social media and let more people know the truth about the persecution.
