Additional Persecution News from China – August 20, 2022 (9 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 18 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] One Practitioner Harassed, Six Detained

Six practitioners in Changli County, Xuan Xiaowen, Bai Hanzhi, Wang Ying, Wang Qinghua, Chen Dong, and Shen Yanru, talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in Jiulong Mountains on the morning of August 16, 2022. Someone reported them. They were arrested. They are being held in the Changli Detention Center.

The day they were arrested, Changli Domestic Security Division officer Ma Jianxin and officers from the Xinji Police Station ransacked the homes of Wang Qinghua and Shen Yanru around 4:00 p.m. Officer Yang Haijiang from the Changli Police Department and two officers from the Xiji Police Stations ransacked the homes of Xuan Xiaowen, Bai Hanzhi, and Chen Dong around 11:00 p.m.

Miao Xiangqun, another practitioner from Changli County, was repeatedly harassed by local police. She left home to avoid further persecution. Her home is now monitored by the police.

2. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] More Than Ten Practitioners Arrested

More than ten practitioners were arrested in Li Chuanlu’s home on the evening of August 12, 2022. Officers from the Chiping District Domestic Security Division raided the place and seized Falun Gong books and related materials.

3. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Yuxiang Arrested

Ms. Zhang Yuxiang of Liangtang Township, Guan County was arrested at her home by officers from the Guan County Police Department on August 18, 2022.

4. [Beipiao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Yuzhen Arrested

Ms. Liu Yuzhen of Hanzhangzi Village, Xiguan Town was arrested by officers from the Beipiao City Domestic Security Division and the Xiguan Police Station on August 8, 2022. The officers confiscated her Falun Gong books and related materials. She was released.

5. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Miao Shuqing Released on Bail Pending Trial

Ms. Miao Shuqing, 73, was arrested with three practitioners on the morning of June 15, 2022, by officers from the Guchengzi Police Station when they were talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in the Wanghuanangou Flea Market. The three practitioners were released the same day. Ms. Miao was released the next day.

Officers from the Guchengzi Police Station recently gave her family a Release on Bail Pending Trial Notification.

6. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Fang Faces Trial

Ms. Zhang Fang was arrested at home by officers from the Sihui Police Station on March 9, 2022. The officers claimed that someone reported a Falun Gong case and she looked like the person recorded in the surveillance video in the bus station.

Her case was submitted to the court and she was transferred to the Chaoyang District Detention Center from the Beijing No. 1 Detention Center. She is held in the Beijing Police Hospital because she is in poor health after sleeping on the wet concrete floor in the Beijing No. 1 Detention Center.

7. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Two Practitioners Released, One Detained

Mr. Jiang Yousheng, Zhu Zhongdai (gender unknown), and Ms. Zhang Guiping of Tukouzi Town were arrested by officers from the Dagujia Town Police Station on the evening of July 30, 2022, when they were hanging “Falun Dafa Is Good” banners along the highway. Their homes were ransacked the same night. Ms. Zhang’s computers, printers, and numerous personal items were confiscated.

Mr. Jiang was released on the afternoon of July 31, 2022.

Zhu was given 15 days of administrative detention and was released on August 15, 2022.

Ms. Zhang was first given 15 days of administrative detention which was later changed to criminal detention. She is being held in the Fushun City Detention Center.

8. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Bai Xuesong’s Attorney Blocked from Meeting with Him

The hearing against Mr. Bai Xuesong from Haicheng City was scheduled at 9:00 a.m. on August 19, 2022. His attorney, who was from Beijing, went to see him in the Anshan No. 2 Detention Center on August 18, but was blocked by guards.

9. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yu Xiaohua and Ms. Wang Shuying Detained

Ms. Yu Xiaohua and Ms. Wang Shuying of Anda City were arrested by officers from the Anda City Police Department and 610 Office agent Liu Lifeng on July 31, 2022, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. The officers took them to the police department and tried to force them to renounce Falun Gong. They were taken to a detention center on August 1 after they underwent a physical exam in the city hospital.

Ms. Yu was transferred to a detention house on August 12, 2022. Ms. Wang was released on August 14 because she did not pass the detention center’s physical exam. Ms. Yu was released after her health deteriorated. While she was detained, her husband was arrested in his hometown when he went there to take care of his seriously ill father. He was brought back to Anda City and is being held in the Anda Detention Center.
