Additional Persecution News from China – August 16, 2022 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 31 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Zhao Qingsan Faces Trial

Zhao Qingsan (gender unknown) is originally from Henan Province. Zhao currently lives in the Wukuaishi Sub-district in Chengdu City. Zhao was scheduled to be tried at 9:30 a.m. on August 19, 2022, in the Chenghua District Court.

2. [Taikang County, Henan Province] Li Weihua Officially Arrested

Seven or eight officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Taikang County Police Department broke into a practitioner’s home on July 18, 2022, and arrested three practitioners who were reading the Falun Dafa teachings together. All three were interrogated and then released around midnight.

The next day, Chengguan Police Station officers went to the homes of He Meiying, Han Dong, and Li Weihua to harass them. The officers ransacked Li’s home and found printed materials. They took Li to the Zhoukou City Detention Center on the grounds that they found truth clarification materials and that Li refused to admit to any wrongdoing. They threatened to sentence Li to prison. It was reported that Li was officially placed under arrest by the Huaiyang County Procuratorate.

3. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Five Practitioners’ Whereabouts Unknown

Officers from the Zhenxing Police Station in the Chiping District arrested several practitioners who were reading the teachings together on the evening of August 12, 2022. As of August 15, the whereabouts of five practitioners are still unknown. They are Mr. Liu Mingshen, Mr. Wang Chengguo, Ms. Xu Jinfeng, Ms. Shang Sufang, and Lu Jinyu (gender unknown).

4. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Tian Qingru’s Home Ransacked

Ms. Tian Qingru from Dingxing County was reported to the police when she distributed Falun Gong materials at the Tiangongsi farmers’ market on July 30, 2022. She was arrested and taken to the Dingxing County Domestic Security Division by officers from the Tiangongsi Police Station. She was later taken to the Dingxing County Detention Center and released due to high blood pressure. The officers ransacked Ms. Tian’s home that day and confiscated Falun Gong books, Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, and dozens of brochures.

5. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Caiyun and Ms. Wei Shaomin Held in Detention Center

Ms. Wang Caiyun was arrested by officers from the Longfeng Police Station in the Dongzhou District at noon on August 13, 2022. She was taken to the Nangou Detention Center. The officers gave the family a notice of administrative detention, and Ms. Wang was detained for 15 days. The notice said that Ms. Wang was detained for distributing Falun Gong materials at the Cigou farmers market in May 2022, but she did not do so at that time. When she was searched in the police station, no Falun Gong items were found on her. She is being held in the Nangou Detention Center.

Ms. Wei Shaomin, 80, is also being held in the detention center.

6. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Yan Shaoyi Taken to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Yan Shaoyi from the Longfeng District was taken from his place of employment to the brainwashing center in a community activity center on Zhonglin Street on August 12, 2022. He returned home about 10 hours later.

7. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Several Practitioners Held in a Detention Center

It was reported that at least nine practitioners are currently being held in the Sanjiang Detention Center. They are: Li Lin, Jiang Jianzhong, Zhang Juhong, Guo Yongfeng, Zhou Min, Chen Xianming, Ma Hong, Hu Mingxia, and Yang Jingcai.

Ms. Guo Yongfeng was reported to the police when she handed an amulet to someone on February 28, 2022. She was arrested with Ms. Wang Hongfen. Ms. Wang was released on March 2, while Ms. Guo has remained in custody at the detention center.

8. [Chongqing] Ms. Yu Dehui Held in Custody

On August 2, 2022, Ms. Yu Dehui was arrested by four people in her rented home in the Yongchuan District. The driver of the car contacted her family and told them to bring clothes for her to the Jinfeng Police Station at No. 33 Xinfeng Avenue. People found Falun Gong materials in a residential area, which resulted in Ms. Yu’s arrest. Because of her high blood pressure, she was forced to pay a deposit of 1,000 yuan to the Jinfeng Police Station. She was placed under residential surveillance at home for six months and was released on bail.

9. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Wan Taoying Faces Trial

The Xihu District Court called Ms. Wan Taoying’s lawyer on July 16, 2022, and delivered a trial notification. The court called the lawyer again later and canceled the trial on the grounds that the area was still a pandemic prevention zone at the time.

On August 14, court officials called and said that the trial would be held on August 17.

10. [Beijing] Mr. Wang Zhenbao and Ms. Wang Runrong Held in Detention Center

It was reported that Mr. Wang Zhenbao from Tianjing Village, Machangying Town in the Pinggu District, was reported to the police when he distributed Falun Gong materials at the Mafang market on December 17, 2020. He was arrested by Mafang Police Station officers.

It was reported recently that Mr. Wang was held in the Pinggu District Detention Center after being sentenced to two years in prison by the Pinggu District Court.

Ms. Wang Runrong was arrested around 6 p.m. on July 27, 2022. She is being held in the Tongzhou Detention Center.

11. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Cai Ying Arrested

Liu Zhiqiang, political head of the Chengbei Police Station in Yongji County, and others knocked on the door of Ms. Cai Ying’s older sister’s home around 10 a.m. on August 12, 2002. When Ms. Cai opened the door she was arrested. The officers confiscated her Falun Gong books. Around noon. Ms. Cai’s second older sister Ms. Niu Min was arrested. Her Falun Gong books were confiscated. Around 8 p.m. that night, the sisters returned home.

On August 13 and August 14, the officers returned to Ms. Cai’s home and knocked on her door to harass her.

12. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Zhenying Taken to Village Committee

Yu Wenrong, a government official in Handian Township in the Shuangcheng District, and an officer from the Harbin City Police Department went to Ms. Liu Zhenying’s home and took her to the village committee. They took turns trying to “transform” Ms. Liu and pressured her to sign paperwork.

13. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhong Nailan Harassed

Henan Street Police Station officers went to Ms. Zhong Nailan’s home and took pictures of her. They also took pictures of Ms. Zhong’s son, who was visiting from out of town.

14. [Chongqing] Ms. Liao Yongzhen’s Home Ransacked

When Ms. Liao Yongzhen came home on the afternoon of April 13, 2022, police officers were there ransacking it. They confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, a computer, and Falun Gong books.

Around April 14 and 15, she was hit by a car when she went out to buy groceries and was taken to the hospital. While she was hospitalized, her home was ransacked again.

15. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ma Yanrong Arrested

Officers from the Qianjin Street Police Station and community personnel ransacked the home of Ma Yanrong (gender unknown) in the Fukang Community. They confiscated many Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and Ma’s cell phone. The officers took Ma to the police station and planned to detain Ma for 10 days. Ma was released that day due to the pandemic.
