(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 33 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhou Ling Faces Trial
Ms. Zhou Ling from the Jiulongpo District was arrested at her home by officers from the Jiulongpo District Police Department on April 21, 2023, and taken to the Huayan Detention Center, where she was found to have high blood pressure. The guards said she could be released if she signed a guarantee statement to stop practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhou’s family recently received a notice that Ms. Zhou would be tried by the Jiulongpo District Court at 8:30 a.m. on September 20.
2. [Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province] Four Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Guo Yuxiang, Ms. Li Suhua, Ms. Lin Li, and Ms. Ye Ya from Shipu Town, Xiangshan County, were arrested at around 8 a.m. on September 14, 2023. Among them, elderly practitioners Ms. Guo and Ms. Li were arrested when they went to the market to buy vegetables. They were released that afternoon. Ms. Li and Ms. Ye, both in their 50s, were arrested at home. The officers ransacked their homes and confiscated some printed materials and computers. The two practitioners have not yet returned home.
3. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wang Xiaoli and Teacher Dong Arrested
Ms. Wang Xiaoli and teacher Dong were reported to the police when they talked to people about Falun Gong on South Jiangjun Road on the morning of September 15, 2023. They were arrested by officers from the Longchi Police Station. Teacher Dong, who is in her 70s, returned home after she was questioned and her answers were recorded. Ms. Wang was taken to Macheng City Detention Center.
Hu Bibo and Wu Xiuqin, who were arrested on September 7, are still being held.
4. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Che Lin Taken to Brainwashing Center
When Mr. Che Lin was talking to people about Falun Gong at Tongji Hospital on August 24, 2023, he was arrested by officers from the Qiaokou District Domestic Security Division who were staked out there. The officers ransacked his home and confiscated two laptop computers and six cell phones, three of which he was carrying.
Mr. Che was placed under administrative detention at the Qiaokou District Lockup Center for 15 days. After the term ended, he was taken to the detention center. He was found to have high blood pressure during a physical examination at the hospital. The detention center refused to accept him, and he was released on bail. However, after paying the bail money, instead of being released he was transferred to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center in Qiaokou District.
While he was being held in the brainwashing center, Mr. Che discovered that his food was drugged. He went on a hunger strike to protest. On the third day of his hunger strike, the brainwashing center was afraid that his life was in danger, and notified Mr. Che’s work unit to pick him up on September 15.
5. [Dazhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Jinru and Ms. Liu Mingzhen Plan to Appeal Their Sentences
The Dachuan District Court sentenced Ms. Li Jinru to five years and six months in prison and fined her 50,000 yuan on the morning of September 12, 2023. Ms. Liu Mingzhen was sentenced to four years and six months in prison and fined 30,000 yuan. The court also stipulated that the fine had to be paid within three days of the pronouncement of the verdict. If it was not paid within the time limit, they would enforce the payment. Ms. Li and Ms. Liu refused to sign the verdicts and made it clear that they would submit an appeal within ten days.
6. [Tianjin] Ms. Liang Langui Taken to Detention Center
Ms. Liang Langui from Hedong District was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong in the Dongli District on August 31, 2023. She was arrested by officers from the Dongxin Police Station and taken to the Dongli Detention Center.
7. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Wan Arrested
Wan [gender and first name unknown] was arrested in the Zhujiang Supermarket on the morning of September 17, 2023.
8. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Wang Baoning Arrested
Wang Baoning [gender unknown] was arrested on September 15, 2023. Wang’s home was ransacked and his or her whereabouts are unknown.
9. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Wen Xianrong [gender unknown] from Shehong City met two other practitioners in the market at around 8:30 a.m. on September 15, 2023. When they were exchanging paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them, they were arrested by someone who had followed them for some time.
It was reported that at around 9:30 a.m. on September 16, another practitioner Ms. Zhao was intercepted by the police, who said they were conducting a large-scale inspection of paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them. Her whereabouts are unknown.
Wen Xianrong returned home safely. The other practitioners’ situations are unknown.
10. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Jia Guanglin and Yuan Ximei Arrested
Jia Guanglin and Yuan Ximei [genders unknown] were arrested by Domestic Security officers on the morning of September 14, 2023 and taken to the Xiadian Town Police Station. Four officers from the police station ransacked Yuan’s home at around 9 p.m. that evening. The officers later called Yuan’s family and told them that they could pick up Yuan at the Linglonggou Detention Center on September 24.
11. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Wang Yonghong Harassed
Two officers from the Chengguan Police Station in Luannan County went to Wang Yonghong’s home. They said it was a return visit. They took photos and videos of Wang. The officers kept the law enforcement recorder turned on during the visit.
The officers had previously harassed Wang on the phone and gone to Wang’s workplace, but Wang was not there.
12. [Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Shuling Detained
Ms. Li Shuling from Yaoquan Town in the Wudalianchi Scenic Area was detained for ten days. She returned home on September 16, 2023.
13. [Zouping City, Shandong Province] More Than Ten Practitioners Arrested
Zhao Yeqing, head of the Zouping City Domestic Security Division, organized a mass arrest of practitioners that was conducted by the Huangshan, Jiaoqiao, Gaoxin, Daixi, and other police stations. More than ten Falun Gong practitioners were simultaneously arrested on August 15, 2023.
Zhang Jing, Liu Jingyu, Hao Jianmei, and Wei Hongxia were placed under administrative detention for ten days. Wu Shandong and Sun Yongsheng were placed under criminal detention. Wang Guimei, Wang Xiulan, and Ms. Cheng were released the same day they were arrested.
14. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Yu Ye Arrested
Yu Ye [gender unknown] from Muping District was reported to the police by a female officer on patrol while Yu talked to people about Falun Gong at the morning market at around 8 a.m. on September 10, 2023. Yu was arrested by officers from the Wenhua Police Station. He or she was interrogated and forced to sign paperwork at the police station. Yu returned home at around 1 p.m. that afternoon.
15. [Tumen City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Hui Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Wang Hui was arrested by officers from the Tumen City Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of May 14, 2021. She was sentenced to four years in prison. She may have been taken to the Jilin Women’s Prison.
