Additional Persecution News from China – February 5, 2023 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 19 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province] Case Against Mr. Zhu Deshan and Mr. Bai Hongyou Submitted to the Procuratorate

10. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhu Yafen Placed under Official Arrest

1. [Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province] Case Against Mr. Zhu Deshan and Mr. Bai Hongyou Submitted to the Procuratorate

Mr. Zhu Deshan and Mr. Bai Hongyou were arrested on October 23, 2022. Their homes were ransacked. They have been held in the Yilan County Detention Center since then. Their family has not been allowed to visit them. Their case was sent to the procuratorate.

2. [Shanghai] Ms. Zhou Meijuan Placed under Surveillance

Ms. Zhou Meijuan lives in the Anting Xinyuan Community, No. 588 Lane, Xinyuan Road, Anting Town in the Jiading District. She was placed under surveillance on December 13, 2022. When Ms. Zhou went downstairs on January 29, 2023, the two security guards photographed her.

3. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Lin Xianghua Arrested

Ms. Lin Xianghua from the Qiaokou District, in her 70s, was arrested around 10 a.m. on February 3, 2023. She is being detained in the Zhuyehai Brainwashing Center.

4. [Huainan City, Anhui Province] Seven Practitioners Persecuted

Ms. Zhang Yanmei was arrested by officers in the Tianjiaan District on May 11, 2022. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books, computer, and other personal belongings. Ms. Zhang is being held in a detention center.

Four other practitioners—Ms. Fu Yuxia, Mr. Chen Honglin, Ms. Ge Xuemei, and Ms. Wei Guangzhen—were arrested the same day as Ms. Zhang Yanmei. They were placed under residential surveillance. Their homes were ransacked and their personal belongings were confiscated.

Ms. Gong Chuangzhen was arrested in October 2022 for distributing truth- clarifying materials. Her home was ransacked, and the materials and her Falun Gong books were confiscated. Ms. Gong is being held in a detention center. Her family has not been allowed to visit her.

The police ransacked Mr. Wang Yuxiang’s home on January 20, 2023. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, printer, and truth-clarifying materials. Mr. Wang was taken to the police station but was released later that night.

5. [Shifang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wang Jirong Arrested and Detained

Ms. Wang Jirong from Yinfeng Village in Majin Town was arrested on February 2, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Deyang City Detention House the next day and will be detained for 10 to 15 days.

6. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Rong Xiuzhen Faces Trial

Ms. Rong Xiuzhen from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, was arrested in Kunming City and has been held in the Panlong District Detention Center for nearly five months. She will be tried in the Wuhua District Court on February 10, 2023.

7. [Wudalianchi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wu Qiong’s Home Ransacked

Ms. Wu Qiong, over 30, was reported to the police for talking about Falun Gong at work on December 14, 2022. The police went to her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, computer, printer, and other personal belongings.

8. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Xie and Her Sister Persecuted

The police went to the home of Ms. Xie and her sister in Yanshou County at 10 a.m. on February 3, 2023. They photographed the sisters and threatened to arrest them if they refused to sign the “three statements.” The police, who didn’t show their IDs or a search permit, ransacked their home. They had a paper on bail pending trial and pressured the family to pay 5000 yuan as the bail payment. They took the cash they found in the home.

9. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Guohui and Ms. Yu Chunli Persecuted

Their lawyer has been asking to see Mr. Wang Guohui and Ms. Yu Chunli since the end of December 2022, but Jihongtan Police Station officers have put forth all kinds of excuses to prevent the lawyer from meeting them. Their family members have not been allowed to visit them either. The two practitioners were recently taken to an isolated place in Yanye Community, Shangma Sub-district, Chengyang District. Their lawyer is negotiating with the court.

10. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhu Yafen Placed under Official Arrest

Ms. Zhu Yafen was reported to the police for talking about Falun Gong and was arrested by three Qianjin Police Station officers on February 1, 2023. Her home was ransacked. She is now under official arrest and is in a detention center.
