Two Falun Gong Practitioners Develop Severe Medical Conditions Due to Torture in Prison

(Minghui.org) According to information collected by Minghui.org, at least 47 Falun Gong practitioners are currently incarcerated at the Gongzhuling Prison in Jilin Province. Anyone who refused to renounce Falun Gong was subjected to brutal physical torture and intensive brainwashing.

Two of the jailed practitioners are struggling with severe medical conditions, after being tortured for upholding their faith.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Yu Chunbo Underwent Gastrectomy and Now Walks with a Limp

Mr. Yu, of Changchun City, Jilin Province, was arrested on November 12, 2020 and later sentenced to 3.5 years by the Chaoyang District Court.

Because he refused to write a statement to renounce Falun Gong, the guards and inmates slapped him in the face 90 times on February 24, 2022. They shocked him in the anus with an electric baton and struck his thighs, calves, back, and buttocks with metal rulers. They next rubbed salt into the wounds before resuming the beating, followed by the salt application again. The torture lasted two hours.

The torture in prison caused a stomach condition in Mr. Yu, and he has had two thirds of his stomach removed. He also developed some leg issues and now walks with a limp.

Mr. Yu is now being held at the ninth ward and is forced to watch propaganda videos and books smearing Falun Gong every day.

Mr. Li Hua Suffers Severe Heart Condition

Mr. Li Hua, of Tonghua City, Jilin Province, was arrested on October 27, 2021 while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. He was sentenced to a four-year prison term by the Tonghua City Court and taken to the Gongzhuling Prison in August 2022.

Wang Renjian, a guard of the ninth ward at Gongzhuling Prison, went to Mr. Li’s home on September 17, 2022. Wang claimed that Mr. Li forgot his family’s phone numbers and couldn’t contact them, so he came to get the phone numbers for him. He also said that Mr. Li was doing well in the prison.

According to an insider, in order to sway the jailed practitioners, the guards of Gongzhuling Prison visited their families and took videos of how they helped them. At Mr. Li’s home, Wang videotaped Mr. Li’s ailing wife struggling to take care of their daughter, who has a mental disorder. He also recorded himself giving the family 2,000 yuan of aid.

Mr. Li was later forced to sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong. Yet the guards still ordered him to sit on a small stool daily from 4:50 a.m. to 10 p.m. without moving. One inmate was assigned to monitor him, and he beat Mr. Li when he moved even a little. The guards also forced Mr. Li to read out loud the prison rules every day for a month.

Mr. Li is currently being held at the brainwashing session in the ninth ward. He was forced to watch propaganda videos slandering Falun Gong, read Buddhism books, and practice other qigong exercises. The mental and physical torture caused him to suffer a severe a heart condition and high blood pressure. He struggles with excessive sweating and chest tightness. His vision and hearing have also declined.
