Additional Persecution New from China – March 18, 2023 (22 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 31 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Hu Cuilan Arrested

Ms. Hu Cuilan was arrested by officers from the Xinjiekou Police Station when she was distributing Falun Gong flyers in Xinjiekou. Her whereabouts are unknown.

2. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Miao Zhongjun Faces Trial

Mr. Miao Zhongjun lives in the Xincheng District. His family received a notification that he will be tried in the Lianhu District Court at 9:30 a.m. on March 23, 2023.

3. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Cui Bing and Ms. Li Zhifen Imprisoned

Ms. Cui Bing and Ms. Li Zhifen were taken to the Liaoning Province No. 2 Women’s Prison on March 17, 2023.

4. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhao Changyan Arrested

Ms. Zhao Changlan was arrested on the evening of March 16, 2023 when she was posting Falun Gong flyers.

5. [Suining City, Sichun Province] Ms. Xi Xianrong and Another Practitioner Arrested

Ms. Xi Xianrong, 78, and another practitioner (name and gender unknown) were arrested by officers from the Zhenjiangsi Police Station on February 26, 2023. The officers searched her in the police station and seized the key to her home. They ransacked her home and confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun, a picture of Falun Gong’s founder, two media players, couplets, and other items.

6. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Guo Xiuying and Ms. Liu Liangrong Detained and Abused

Ms. Guo Xiuying, 63, and Ms. Liu Liangrong were arrested by four plainclothes officers from the Jiaheqiao Police Station on February 2, 2023 for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were taken to the police station, where they were interrogated, searched, and photographed. The officers confiscated over 100 yuan in cash from Ms. Guo and 90 yuan from Ms. Liu.

Ms. Guo and Ms. Liu were held in the Yongxing Detention Center for ten days and six days, respectively.

While she was being detained, Ms. Guo was beaten, handcuffed to a metal bar, and made to sit on a tiny bench for refusing to wear the inmate uniform. On the ninth day, she was ordered to sign and fingerprint a paper. She did not cooperate. She was released the next day after her family signed the paper.

Ms. Liu was coerced into signing a paper on the sixth day of detention and released afterwards. Her home was ransacked. Her Falun Gong books, exercise music player, and more than 300 yuan in cash were confiscated.

7. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Four Practitioners Detained

Mr. Wang Yuhu was arrested on March 4, 2023. He was given a 15-day detention.

Mr. Yang Junqi was arrested by officers from the Railroad Police Station on February 27, 2023. He was transferred to a detention center after he was in police custody for eight days.

Ms. Niu Yumin was arrested at work on March 5, 2023. Her home was illegally searched. Two new year posters were confiscated. She was given a 15-day detention.

The same day, police broke into the home of Ms. Niu Yuxia. Ms. Niu, who was Ms. Niu Yumin’s sister, was frightened, had a stroke and collapsed to the ground. Her housemaid rushed her to the county hospital. The officers followed them and pressured the housemaid. The police went to her home, ransacked the place, and seized anything related to Falun Gong. They stationed guards in the hospital for two days before they released her on bail for medical reasons.

8. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Ms. Zhang Yufeng, Ms. Wang Enying, and Ms. Zhang Xiuying have been held in the Jinzhou City Women’s Detention Center since they were arrested by officers from the Jinzhou Railroad Police Department, the Chaoyang City’s High Speed Rail Police Station, and the Chaoyang City’s Beita Police Department.

9. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Yuqin Detained

Ms. Li Yuqin of Qinglong County took care of her grandson in her son’s home in Beijing. She was arrested there by officers from the Gaobeidian Police Station in the Chaoyang District, Beijing on March 2, 2023. She was detained for more than ten days in the Chaoyang Detention Center before she was released on March 16.

10. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yang Ouhuan Detained

Ms. Yang Ouhuan was arrested at home by four officers from the Yantianhe Town Police Station on the morning of March 16, 2023. They tore down the couplets posted on her door before they entered her home. They used the couplets as an excuse to bring her to the police station for interrogation. She was taken to a detention center that afternoon.

11. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Ruyi Under Surveillance

Mr. Zhang Ruyi, 83, of the Haidian District, was under 24-hour surveillance during the annual meetings of the CCP’s parliament and political advisory body.

12. [Qichun County, Hubei Province] Ms. Gong Hua Detained

Ms. Hong Hua of Qichun County was arrested in her daughter’s home in Wuhan City by officers from the Zhuodaoquan Police Station on March 13, 2023. She is being held in the Wuhan City No.1 Detention Center.

13. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Zhou Qunhui Detained

Ms. Zhou Qunhui was arrested at home by officers from the Gangcheng Police Station on March 15, 2023. They ransacked her place and seized a new printer, a notebook computer, more than 40 Falun Gong books, two boxes of Minghui Weekly, several compact discs, three or four TF cards, and 30 copies of Minghui Weekly News. She is being held in the Nanchang City Detention Center.

14. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Tao Xizhen Arrested

Ms. Tao Xizhen was arrested on March 17, 2023.

15. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhou Dongcui Repeatedly Harassed and Arrested

Ms. Zhou Dongcui was harassed at home on February 18, 2023 by director Gong Biao and two other officers from the Wenfeng Police Station. They tried to photograph her, but she did not cooperate.

She was arrested on February 19, 2023 by three officers from the Yingzhou City Police Department. The officers photographed her home, and forced her family member to sign and fingerprint documents. She was taken to the Wenfeng Police Station for interrogation. They forced her to sign documents, saying that they would not release her until she signed them.

At the end of February, she was taken to the police station for interrogation. Police tried to have her sign the documents.

On March 6, she was taken to the Yingzhou Police Department and interrogated. Police fined her and threatened to severely increase the fine if she did not cooperate.

Her husband has since been living in terror. His blood pressure surged, and he suffered a heart attack. His heart rate is now only 40 beats per minute.

16. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Chu Guoli Arrested

Mr. Chu Guoli of the Tiexi District was arrested by seven or eight officers on March 15, 2022.

17. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Two Practitioners Arrested, One Detained

Ms. Wang Hua, 73, and two other female practitioners, names unknown, one of them in her 80s, were arrested by officers from the Jianshe Police Station on the afternoon of February 24, 2023. Ms. Wang was taken to a detention center. The other two practitioners were released.

18. [Xiangyang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Li Xianzhi Detained

Ms. Li Xianzhi, 78, has been held in the No. 1 Detention Center since March 14, 2023.

19. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Yulan Arrested

Ms. Wang Yulan of Donggezhuang Village, Jiangtuan Town was arrested by officers from the Yangjun Border Defense Police Station, after someone reported her when she talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked.

20. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Liu Chang Arrested

Mr. Liu Chang recently arrested.

21. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xing Yunli Detained

Ms. Xing Yunli, in her 60s, was arrested by officers from the Bohai Police Station on the morning of March 9, 2023 after someone reported her when she talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked. Her Falun Gong books and materials were confiscated. She is being held in a detention center.

22. [Dazhou City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Wang Qixuan and His Wife Arrested

Mr. Wang Qixuan, a teacher, and his wife were arrested on October 17, 2022. They were released that night. Their home was ransacked. All of their electronic devices and Falun Gong books were confiscated.
