(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 19 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Wang Luhua, Ms. Zhang Lihua, and Ms. Han Lihua were taken by officers from the Tieren Police Department to the Daqing Detention Center for physical examinations on June 1, 2023. The detention refused to accept them due to their high blood pressure. All three practitioners were sentenced to prison. Ms. Wang was sentenced to three years and four months, Ms. Zhang was sentenced to four years, and Ms. Han was sentenced to eight years.

2. [Huai’an City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Zhu Yunxia and Ms. Lin Fengying Face Trial

It was reported that Ms. Zhu Yunxia and Ms. Lin Fengying will be tried in the No. 1 Court of Lianshui County Court at 9:30 a.m. on June 7, 2023. The court changed the original trial date, which was set for May 6.

Ms. Zhu’s daughter, Ms. Lin’s son, and two lawyers will jointly defend their innocence.

3. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhang Fengcai Faces Trial

Ms. Zhang Fengcai, 74, was arrested on March 11, 2023, by officers from the Gulou Police Station in the Nankai District for talking to people about Falun Gong. The officers ransacked her home that morning and confiscated all her Falun Gong books. Her husband Mr. Yuan Shouhua (who is not a practitioner) had a cerebral ischemic stroke a few days later and had to pay 320 yuan a day to hire a healthcare worker.

Ms. Zhang was held for three years the first time she was arrested. The second time she was arrested, she was sentenced to 10 years in prison. She is now due to be tried in the Nankai District Court.

4. [Yinan County, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Changpeng Arrested

Mr. Liu Changpeng, 27, from Dongsuozhuang Village, Shuanghou Town, was arrested by officers from the Beiyuan Road Police Station in the Lanshan District, possibly when he was talking to people about Falun Gong near Beiyuan Road around 4 p.m. on May 28, 2023.

5. [Beijing] Ms. Huang Miaoying Arrested

Ms. Huang Miaoying, 71, was recently arrested.

6. [Chongqing] Lu Yamin Placed in Criminal Detention

Lu Yamin (gender unknown), 77, who lives alone in the Wulidian Sub-district, Jiangbei District, was placed in criminal detention.

On May 26, 2023, officers from the police station called to notify Lu’s children to come to the police station to sign paperwork. Only then did the children know that Lu was arrested on May 25 after he or she was tricked into opening the door. The officers also ransacked the place. They confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong and Lu’s Falun Gong books.

7. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Hu Yanhua Arrested

Six plainclothes officers arrested 57-year-old Ms. Hu Yanhua at the gate of the Nanguodajiazhuang apartment building in the Qiaokou District around 10 a.m. on May 31, 2023. It is not known where she is being held.

8. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Li Fen and Ms. Wang Dongxiu Arrested

Ms. Li Fen, 63, from the Wenquan District, Xianning City, was reported to the community management office for talking to people about Falun Gong in Daye City, Huangshi City, where she was taking care of her grandson at her daughter’s home in 2023.

After being followed by plainclothes officers for over a month, she was arrested when she went out on the morning of April 25. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated a computer among other items. At the same time Ms. Wang Dongxiu from Daye City was also arrested. She is being held in the Huangshi City No. 1 Detention Center.

9. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Lin Arrested

Ms. Sun Lin, 60, from Laixi City was arrested by two officers from the Binhe Road Police Station around 11 a.m. on May 31, 2023, just after she got off work. The officers told her that the police director wanted to ask her about something.

That afternoon, the officers broke into Ms. Sun’s house and confiscated all her Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, computers, and printers. Ms. Sun returned home around 9 p.m.

10. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Chen Yufang Arrested

Ms. Chen Yufang, in her 70s, was arrested at home on April 19, 2023. The police confiscated over 50 Falun Gong books and 1,000 yuan paper bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them.

The next day, the officers told her family that Ms. Chen had been hospitalized with high blood pressure and demanded that they hand over 10,000 yuan to cover her medical expenses.

11. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Lijuan Arrested

Ms. Sun Lijuan from Zhaoyuan County was arrested and taken to the police station on March 23, 2023. The officers told her that someone reported her for practicing Falun Gong. She returned home safely.

12. [Huangshi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhang Shufen Released from Prison

Around the end of February or the beginning of March 2023, elderly Ms. Zhang Shufen was released after serving her sentence and returned home. She was imprisoned for approximately two and a half years.

13. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Chu Zhanjuan Arrested

Ms. Chu Zhanjuan from Dongfeng New Village in the High-tech Zone was arrested on June 7, 2022. She was released on bail for one year.

During that year, Ms. Chu was harassed several times. The High-tech Zone Domestic Security Division collected evidence to submit her case to the procuratorate for prosecution.

Ms. Chu was arrested again on May 10, 2023. She is being held in the Daqing City No. 2 Detention Center.

14. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Jun Arrested

Ms. Li Jun from Deyuan Town thein Pidu District and two other clothing business partners were arrested when they drove to the Hehuachi Clothing Wholesale Market in Chengdu City to stock up on inventory on May 24, 2023. That night, one partner, who is not a practitioner, was released. Ms. Li’s home was ransacked. Her Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated. It is not clear why the three were arrested.
