(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Guang’an City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Face Trial

Mr. Tang Xiewen, Ms. Peng Qingling, and Ms. Xiang Tianxiu from Huaying City are to be tried in the Huaying City Court at 9:30 a.m. on June 20, 2023.

2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Case Against Ms. Gong Shuying Turned Over to the Procuratorate

Ms. Gong Shuying was arrested on the afternoon of May 18, 2023. It was reported that the Nanhu Police Station turned over her case to the Procuratorate. She is being held in Cell 4311 in the Xinglongshan Detention Center.

3. [Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Tang Zengping and Ms. Jing Baohua Abused in Prison

Personnel in the Correction and Intensive Training Ward of Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison physically abused and psychologically pressured Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Tang Zengping and Ms. Jing Baohua, who refused to transform. Ms. Tang was tortured so badly that she had difficulty moving. She could not chew, and could only eat porridge. The prison officials continued to persecute her despite her physical condition.

4. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Yuhe’s Pension Suspended

Ms. Wang Yuhe, 83, was sentenced to three years in prison by the Shahekou District Court. The Jinpu New District Social Security Department stopped her pension payments in April 2023. Ms. Wang is being held in the No. 11 Ward of Liaoning Province Women’s Prison. Her sentence will end on September 14, 2024.

5. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Mr. Tian Shujun’s Original Verdict Upheld

Mr. Tian Shujun was taken to a prison in the Caofeidian area in Tangshan City in early June 2023. Mr. Tian appealed to the Qinhuangdao City Intermediate Court. The court did not even pretend to review her case, and upheld the original judgment to put him in prison.

6. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Chunjie Arrested

Ms. Liu Chunjie from Faku County was arrested at home by five or six officers from the Shiqiao Police Station on April 21, 2023. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. Ms. Liu’s husband tried to stop them when they took the photos, but the officers threatened to arrest him. They later tricked her husband into going to a different room, and then took the photos and books. They also removed Falun Gong paintings from the wall.

7. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Xu Min Arrested

Ms. Xu Min was arrested. Further information is pending.

8. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Yanmin Arrested

Ms. Li Yanmin was arrested at home by officers from the Hongqi Street Police Station on June 12, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books and a notebook computer.

9. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liang Chunxin Detained

Ms. Liang Chunxin was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong at a farmers market on the morning of June 3, 2023. She was arrested and taken to a detention center by officers from the Qiulaobao Police Station in the No. 4 Farm, Caofeidian District. She was released five days later.

10. [Mianyang City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Liu Hanming Harassed

Party secretary Yang Jian of the Macun Division in Huangtu Town, Anzhou District, ordered Wang Shuqiong, head of the No. 13 Subdivision in Macun, to go to Mr. Liu Hanming’s temporary residence at 8 a.m. on May 26, 2023. Wang coerced Mr. Liu into going to the Huangtu Town Police Station, threatening that officers would come to his home if he did not.

Wang came again to threaten Mr. Liu at around 3:30 p.m. on June 7. Wang said that Party secretary Yang wanted to deliver the message that Huangtu Town was to be inspected thoroughly by higher authorities, and that Mr. Liu was not allowed to go out for grocery shopping, and he was not allowed to walk around outside. Wang said that Mr. Liu was blacklisted. Wang also photographed him.

11. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Su Xiake Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Su Xiake from Wuchang District was reported to the police by students while distributing Falun Gong materials in Central China Normal University on October 26, 2021. He was arrested at home and taken to the Mafangshan Police Station by officers from the Hongshan District Domestic Security Division the following day. Mr. Su was released on bail. After over a year of preparation by the public security, procuratorate, and court systems, the Hongshan District Court sentenced Mr. Su to one year in prison with a two-year suspension, and fined her 3,000 yuan on March 3, 2023.

Mr. Su’s case has been sent to the Wuchang District Judicial Bureau, and transferred to the Shuiguohu Judicial Office and Binhu Community for so-called “corrective supervision.” During the two-month period of strict supervision, Mr. Su was required to sign in at the Shuiguohu Judicial Office every week and write a report every day on his situation at home.

12. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Hou Lijun on Hunger Strike for 48 Days and in Critical Condition

Mr. Hou Lijun was arrested by officers from the Wanbailin District Police Department on April 25, 2023. He was sentenced to ten years in prison by Gao Aiping of the Wanbailin District Court. Mr. Hou did not accept the sentence and appealed. The Taiyuan City Intermediate Court upheld the original judgment. Mr. Hou was taken to Jinzhong Men’s Prison. He has been on a hunger strike for 48 days, lost 55 pounds, and is in critical condition.

13. [Fuyu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Qu Guiling and Ms. Ai Fengxian Arrested

Political head Tang Qi, of the Caijiagou Town Police Station in Fuyu City, and two officers led by Tang Shutian, an assistant policeman from Zhangbo Village, broke into Ms. Qu Guiling’s home on June 6, 2023. They confiscated a large number of Minghui Weekly magazines, took Ms. Qu to a detention center, and tried to detain her for 13 days. Ms. Qu was traumatized, felt unwell, and could not eat. She was released on June 8.

Officers from the Taolaizhao Town Police Station broke into Ms. Ai Fengxian’s home in Shenjing Village on June 7, 2023, and arrested her when was working in the garden. They also confiscated several Falun Gong books. It was reported that Ms. Ai was held in the Fuyu City Detention Center for five days.
