74-Year-Old Hebei Woman Sentenced to One Year in Prison for Her Faith

(Minghui.org) A 74-year-old resident of Xinji City, Hebei Province was sentenced to one year in prison on June 21, 2023, for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Ms. Wang Guili was first arrested on November 6, 2021, for distributing information exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. The arresting officers were from Shifu Street Police Station. They later released her on one-year bail.

Another group of agents from the same police station broke into Ms. Wang’s home on February 15, 2023, and seized her. Her husband said he was unable to cook and asked when she’d be released. The police said there was no chance she’d be back home that day.

Ms. Wang was transferred to the Shijiazhuang City Second Detention Center the next day. The Xinji City Procuratorate issued a formal arrest warrant against her on March 1.

The Jinzhou City Court tried Ms. Wang on June 21 and sentenced her to one year in prison at the end of the hearing. Both Jinzhou and Xinji are under the administration of the capital city of Shijiazhuang.
