(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 25 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Beijing] Mr. Jiang Shiliang Faces Indictment
Mr. Jiang Shiliang, 68, from the Fengtai District, was arrested by officers from the Fangzhuang Police Station on May 19, 2023. He is being held in the Fengtai District Detention Center. His family is not allowed to visit him.
Mr. Jiang’s family was notified by a phone call from the Fengtai Police Department on July 23, 2023 that his case was transferred to the Fengtai District Procuratorate. They received his arrest warrant from the Fengtai Police Department on July 25.
2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] More than Twenty Practitioners Arrested
More than twenty practitioners were arrested by Xinmin Domestic Security Division officers on July 26, 2023. Cao Yang, Zhao Hui, Xu Xiaoyun, Xu Xiaomei, Wang Hongli, Wu Junde, Liu Bo, and Wu Yan were among those arrested. Wu Yan was released. On July 30 the families of the arrested practitioners went to the police station to demand their release and that their confiscated items be returned, including money, bank cards, and other belongings.
3. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Lu Jin Sent to Brainwashing Center After Being Detained
Lu Jin (gender unknown), from the Jiang’an District, was detained for 15 days for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong on July 9, 2023. When Lu’s term was finished on July 24, local police station officers and community clerks sent Lu Jin to the Jiang’an District Brainwashing Center instead of letting the practitioner go home.
4. [Xinyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Yang Chunxiu and Mr. Yang Arrested
Ms. Yang Chunxiu from Huangchuan County was arrested at home by officers from the Huangchuan County Police Department after 2:00 p.m. on July 15, 2023. The officers ransacked her home and seized her Falun Gong books, computers, and other belongings.
Mr. Yang, in his 40s, given name unknown, left his home in Xinyang City and went to Huangchuan County to avoid the persecution. He was arrested by officers from the Huangchuan County Police Department in mid-July 2023.
5. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Dongmei and Mr. Zhang Xibo Detained
Ms. Wang Dongmei and Mr. Zhang Xibo of Pingdu City were arrested on the afternoon of July 20, 2023. They were detained for 10 days in the Pingdumen Village Detention Center. They were released on the morning of July 30.
6. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhao Xudong Harassed
Mr. Zhao Xudong, 77, from the Changyi District, was harassed at home by officer Qiu from the Hadawan Police Station on July 31, 2023. Qiu ordered Mr. Zhao to report to the police station. He did not comply.
Mr. Zhao, his daughter Ms. Zhao Guokun, 45, and his son Mr. Zhao Guoxing, 51, were arrested at home on May 4, 2023 by officers from the Jilin City Domestic Security Division, the Hadawan Police Station, and the Xinghua Police Station. Mr. Zhao and his son were taken to the Hadawan Police Station, while his daughter was taken to the Xinghua Police Station. At midnight, officers made Mr. Zhao and his daughter undergo physical exams in the 465 Hospital. Afterwards they took them to the Jilin City Detention Center.
His son was released around 5:00 p.m. on May 5. His daughter was detained for 13 days and was released on the evening of May 17. Mr. Zhao was detained for nearly a month and was released on May 26.
His daughter received an Indictment and a Sentencing Recommendation from the Changyi District Procuratorate, as well as a Residential Surveillance Decision from the Changyi District Court on July 18, 2023.
7. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Qin Shulan Harassed
Ms. Qin Shulan, 75, from Jinzhou City, was sentenced to four years in prison. After she completed her prison term and was released on April 21, 2020, she got her pension, a little more than 10,000 yuan.
Baijia Village security officer Yang (first name unknown) and officer Pan Qiuyu from the local police station went to Ms. Qin’s home multiple times. They ordered her to sign a document, demanded she return her pension, and threatened to make her life miserable if she did not comply.
8. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Sun Shuzhen and Ms. Sun Shuzhi Detained
Ms. Sun Shuzhen and her younger sister, Ms. Sun Shuzhi, were arrested by Dongchang Police Station officers on the morning of July 27, 2023. The officers first went to Ms. Sun Shuzhen’s home. She did not open the door. Her sister, who lives downstairs, came out. They arrested her, searched her, and got her keys. They then took both sisters and Ms. Sun Shuzhen’s 15-month-old granddaughter to the police station. Neighbors heard the child crying. The officers seized the sisters’ belongings, and took them to the Changliu Detention Center after 8:00 p.m.
9. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhao Dehua Arrested
Mr. Zhao Dehua from Xinxing Township was arrested at home by seven or eight police officers around 5:00 a.m. on July 31, 2023.
10. [Shanghai] Ms. Chen Qinfang Released from Detention Center
Ms. Chen Qinfang, who lives in the Fourth Zijing Village, Anting Town, finished a 15-month prison term and was released on March 22, 2023.
She was arrested by Anting Police Station officers on the evening of December 23, 2021 after someone reported her when she talked to people on the street in Anting Town about the persecution of Falun Gong.
The officers taped Ms. Chen’s mouth, covered it with two masks, and put a black hood over her head. They handcuffed her and took her to the Jiading Hospital on December 24. They made her undergo a physical exam there. Afterwards, they first took her back to the police station, and then to the Jiading District Detention Center, where she was detained for 15 months.
