(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 19 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Gongzhuling City, Jilin Province] Four Practitioners Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Zhang Qian, Ms. Wang Li, Ms. Liu Guijie, and Mr. Luan Dewu were sentenced to prison by the Gongzhuling City Court on August 25, 2023. The three female practitioners were each sentenced to three years in prison, and Mr. Luan was sentenced to four years in prison.
2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Guilan Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Li Guilan, 78, was arrested by officers from the Jincheng Police Department in the Changchun Automotive Economic Trade and Development Zone on February 8, 2023. The officers confiscated several Falun Gong books and 1,200 yuan in currency bills which had Falun Gong facts printed on them. Ms. Li was tried via video link around August 26-27, but her family was not notified at that time. Afterwards, the court notified her family that Ms. Li had been sentenced to eighteen months in prison.
3. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Wang Tingfang and Ms. He Hua Missing
Ms. Wang Tingfang, 83, lives alone. On May 9, 2023, she was harassed by members of the Xingyun Community Neighborhood Committee in the Hebin Sub-district. She was missing afterwards, and her whereabouts are still unknown. The lock on her door has also been replaced.
Ms. He Hua, who is in her 50s, is also missing.
4. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Shuyun Tried
Ms. Sun Shuyun was tried by the Daowai District Court at 11:30 a.m. on September 4, 2023. The court did not follow normal procedures, and only allowed two family members to attend the hearing. The trial lasted for about half an hour. Ms. Sun’s lawyer and Ms. Sun pleaded not guilty.
Ms. Sun has been held in the Harbin City No. 2 Detention Center for over 100 days, since May 20. She was thin and weak, and her hearing was poor. Her sister brought her a hearing aid, but she still could not hear clearly.
5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Bai Mingxu Officially Arrested
Mr. Bai Mingxu from the Jiutai District was arrested at home by officer Xin Rongkai from the Gongnong Police Station in Jiutai District and officers from the Changchun City Domestic Security Division at around 5 a.m. on July 21, 2023. The officers confiscated 30 to 40 USB flash drives. After being held in the Xinglongshan Lockup Center for 15 days, Mr. Bai was transferred to a detention center and was officially placed under arrest.
6. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Yaqin and Mr. Yu You Arrested
Ms. Zhang Yaqin was seen on surveillance cameras distributing and posting Falun Gong materials. She was arrested by officers from the Yongchang Police Station in Jiguan District on July 14, 2023, and detained for 15 days.
Mr. Yu You originally lived in Qitaihe City. He became displaced, and lived in Jixi City for years. He was arrested at his home in Jixi City on July 23. His whereabouts are unknown.
7. [Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province] Mr. Mo Shanyi Held in Detention Center
Mr. Mo Shanyi, 43, from Pengxi County, Suining City, Sichuan Province, worked odd jobs in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. Officers from the Louqiao Police Station in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, located Mr. Mo around July 20, 2023. They took his cell phone and examined it. They returned it to him and left.
The officers located Mr. Mo again on August 7 and said there was Falun Gong information in groups on the social media app WeChat on his cell phone. They ransacked his home. They did not find anything they were looking for. The officers notified the Sanfeng Police Station of Pengxi County, Sichuan Province to handle the case.
Mr. was taken to the Pengxi County Detention Center in Sichuan on August 9. His case was transferred to the Sanfeng Police Station.
8. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Xiuzhen Arrested
Ms. Sun Xiuzhen, 78, from Bayuquan District, was arrested by plainclothes officers on July 6, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing Falun Gong materials. After seven days of detention, she was released on bail.
On November 29, 2021, Ms. Sun was called to the Bayuquan District Court and was told that a trial would be held in the Zhanqian District Court at 9 a.m. on December 14.
Ms. Sun moved from her home to a rented room. After August 20, 2023, her friends and family could not get in touch with her. After several rounds of inquiry, they learned that Ms. Sun had been arrested and taken to the Yingkou City Detention Center.
9. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Qi Xiuhong Officially Arrested
Ms. Qi Xiuhong was officially placed under arrest by the Procuratorate. An arrest notice was issued to her family members, who refused to sign it as required by the Procuratorate.
10. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Yanling Sentenced to Prison
It was recently reported that Ms. Li Yanling, who was arrested on September 21, 2022, was sentenced to eight months in prison by the Linghai City Court. She left the Jinzhou Women’s Detention Center and returned home in May 2023.
11. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Lu Hongyue Arrested
Mr. Lu Hongyue, from the urban area of Linqu County, was arrested at his store around August 31, 2023. He is currently being held in the Linqu County Detention Center.
12. [Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province] Three Practitioners Harassed
Two women and one man from Chengguan Town, Liquan County, went to Ms. Cao Yuemei’s home on the morning of September 1, 2023, took photos, and asked Ms. Cao to sign paperwork. Ms. Cao refused to sign anything and they left.
On August 28, two officers from the local police station in charge of Xinshi Community, in Liquan County, went to the store where practitioners Xiaoyan and Yanxia worked. They stood outside and monitored and photographed them.
