(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province] Verdict Against Ms. Yan Lin Upheld
2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Case Against Mr. Han Chunlong Submitted to the Procuratorate
3. [Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Qiu Yuqin Persecuted During Detention
4. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Shuping Arrested and Detained
5. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Wang Gaimei Arrested and Detained
6. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yan Minghua Arrested
7. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuqin Arrested and Detained
8. [Yi County, Liaoning Province] Five Practitioners Arrested and Detained

1. [Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province] Verdict Against Ms. Yan Lin Upheld
Ms. Yan Lin was sentenced to three years in prison by the Dafeng District Court in July 2022. She was later released on bail pending trial. Ms. Yan was detained after the verdict was upheld by the intermediate court in November 2023.
2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] The Case Against Mr. Han Chunlong Submitted to the Procuratorate
The case against Mr. Han Chunlong was submitted to the Dadong District Procuratorate. Mr. Han was transferred from the Shenhe District Detention Center to the Dadong District Detention Center.
3. [Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Qiu Yuqin Persecuted During Detention
Ms. Qiu Yuqin from Dalianhe of Yilan County was arrested and held in the Yaziquan Detention Center for over three months. She told her lawyer a few days ago that she underwent brainwashing every day and was pressured to sign the guarantee statement.
4. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Shuping Arrested and Detained
Ms. Zhang Shuping from Dongzhou District was arrested when she talked to people about Falun Gong in Haicheng Community, Wanghua District on the afternoon of January 18, 2024. She was placed under 10-day detention.
5. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Wang Gaimei Arrested and Detained
Ms. Wang Gaimei, in her 50s, was arrested recently and sent to the Gujiao Women’s Detention Center.
6. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yan Minghua Arrested
Ms. Yan Minghua’s son-in-law reported to police that his wife practiced Falun Gong on January 21, 2024. Officers from the Geduihou Frontier Defense Police Station went to arrest Ms. Yan’s daughter, but she was not home. They went to Ms. Yan’s home and arrested her.
7. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuqin Arrested and Detained
Ms. Zhang Xiuqin, in her 60s, was arrested near Tiedong Market at noon on January 17, 2024. Her home was ransacked and her Falun Gong books and other personal belongings were confiscated. Ms. Zhang is currently detained in the Jinzhou City Women’s Detention Center.
8. [Yi County, Liaoning Province] Five Practitioners Arrested and Detained
Mr. Qin Shuhai and Ms. Liu Yulan, in her 70s, from Yi County were seen distributing calendars which had information about Falun Gong in Xingxingtun Village in October 2023. The head of the village confiscated the calendars, but let the two practitioners go. The calendars were handed over to the Dayushubao Town Police Station, and the event was then escalated and sent to higher authorities.
Mr. Qin Shuhai was arrested at home on January 18, 2024. Ms. Li Guibin and Ms. Chu Hongfen, who were visiting Mr. Qin, were also arrested. The police then went to arrest Ms. Liu Yulan and Mr. Shi from Xingxingtun Village. The five practitioners have been placed under criminal arrest and detained in the Yi County Detention Center.
9. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Zhang was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was secretly under surveillance for two months. Zhang was arrested at home by officers from the Wansongyuan Police Station in Jianghan District in mid-January 2024. A female practitioner and her home helper were also arrested. They were released later after the practitioner’s husband wrote a guarantee letter. Zhang is still detained.
10. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Shang Xiuling Arrested
Ms. Shang Xiuling was observed talking to people about Falun Gong by a policeman in an urban management vehicle parked on the roadside, and was arrested on the afternoon of January 4, 2024. She was taken to the Nanqi Police Station. She had symptoms of a heart attack in the police station, and she was released after her family signed some forms.
11. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Lin Wei Arrested and Detained
Ms. Lin Wei, 67, is a retiree from the Agricultural Bank of Jilin City. She was reported to police when she visited a friend in the Quchaihe Town of Panshi City, and she was arrested on December 21, 2023. Her home was ransacked. She is currently detained in the Jilin City Detention Center.
12. [Xinbin County, Liaoning Province] Mr. Sun Shaohua and Ms. Qiu Hong Arrested and Detained
Mr. Sun Shaohua and Ms. Qiu Hong from Dasiping Town were arrested by officers from the Jianchang Police Station on January 20, 2024 for talking to people about Falun Gong in Jianchang Town. They were placed under 10-day detention and each fined 1,000 yuan. Both practitioners are detained in the Benxi City Detention House.
