Additional Persecution News from China – May 21, 2025 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 15 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wu Junfeng Faces Trial

Mr. Wu Junfeng was indicted by the Tianqiao District Procuratorate on May 16, 2025. He is now facing trial by the Tianqiao District Court.

2. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Guan Guichun Sentenced

Mr. Guan Guichun, of Zhaodeming Village, Tuanjie Township, Shuangcheng District, was arrested in December 2024, after the police traced his IP address and detected him browsing the Minghui website. His home was ransacked. Minghui.org recently confirmed that he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. It’s not clear where he is currently detained.

3. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Shujuan Detained

Ms. Liu Shujuan was arrested by Jiangjun Police Station officers on the afternoon of May 20, 2025, after someone reported her for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was taken to the Fushun Detention Center for 15 days.

4. [Hanchuan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Huang Xinying Arrested

Ms. Huang Xinying, 64, was harassed by the police on March 19, 2025. She managed to escape and was forced to go into hiding for two months. She returned home in early May 2025, only to be arrested by Yu Qingbo and other officers from the Hanchuan Domestic Security Division on the morning of May 19, 2025, while visiting a friend.

5. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Guizhen Arrested

Ms. Zhang Guizhen, 68, of Xiong County, was arrested by Domestic Security Division officers on the morning of May 15, 2025. She was taken to the Legal Case Handling Center, where she was handcuffed, restrained in a metal chair, and interrogated for 40 minutes. Due to her high blood pressure (132/204 mmHg), she was released in the evening. There were many bruises on her arms due to police brutality during her arrest.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yang Xiuzhen’s Home Ransacked

Ms. Yang Xiuzhen lives in Dengshahe Town, Jinpu District. Her home was ransacked by two officers from the Dengshahe Town Police Station on the afternoon of May 19, 2025. Her Falun Gong books and other items were confiscated.

7. [Beijing] Ms. Mao Guizhi Under Surveillance

Ms. Mao Guizhi of Chaoyang District was under police surveillance around the clock from May 10 to May 13, 2025.

8. [Chongqing] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Bi Lilian, in her 80s, of Liangping District, was arrested at home by two dozen people who pried open her door on May 13, 2025. All of her Falun Gong books were confiscated. She was released the next day.

Ms. Peng Zhuoyu, 87, of Liangshan Town, was arrested on May 15, 2025 for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her Falun Gong books were confiscated. She was released that same day.

Ms. Hu Liangjie, 70, of Jukui Town, was arrested on May 13, 2025 when she was distributing Falun Gong flyers. It’s not clear whether she has been released.

9. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Arrested and One Forced to Live Away from Home

Three practitioners, including Ms. Lu Yanling, Ms. Xu Fenglan, 72, and Ms. Fu, 74, first name unknown, were arrested and had their homes ransacked by officers from the Zhihe Police Station on May 6, 2025. All three have been released.

The police also ransacked the home of 74-year-old Ms. Xue Xinhua that day. She managed to escape arrest and has been forced to live away from home to hide from the police.

10. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhou Lina’s Appeal Denied

Ms. Zhou Lina was sentenced to 4.5 years and fined 6,000 yuan on March 14, 2025. Her appeal was denied by the Jinzhou City Intermediate Court on May 14, 2025.
