(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhou Min from Shifang City, Sichuan Province, was sentenced to one year in prison on September 9, 2025 because she practices Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Zhou, who retired from the Nanxing Machinery Factory (formerly Southwest Chemical Machinery), was talking to people about Falun Gong in Shigu Town when a male government employee seized her and took her to the Shigu Town Police Station.
Ms. Zhou was interrogated by three officers, including Min Yang (badge number 05142), a man also surnamed Min, and a third whose name was unknown but whose badge number was 22733. They also photographed her. She refused to answer their questions and urged them to stop participating in the persecution of Falun Gong.
The police released Ms. Zhou on bail at an unknown time. Zeng Weibing, secretary of the local community office, led two workers to harass her at home after 4 p.m. on January 20, 2025. They claimed to be conducting a welfare check and handed her an envelope with cash.
Ms. Zhou declined to accept the money and also refused to sign statements to renounce Falun Gong. Zeng and his subordinates then left. He, however, led two other workers (a man and a woman in their 40-50s) and harassed Ms. Zhou after 10 a.m. on March 6, 2025.
A group of officers from the Yongcheng Police Station and the Shigu Town Police Station seized Ms. Zhou at her home after 9 a.m. on May 14, 2025. Her family was notified at 6:30 p.m. that she had been put on criminal detention at the Deyang City Detention Center. Deyang oversees Shifang City.
Ms. Zhou’s family is not allowed to visit her. On May 28, they got another notice that she was issued a formal arrest warrant for “using a cult organization to undermine law enforcement,” a standard pretext used by the communist regime to frame Falun Gong practitioners. It is unclear when she was indicted and tried. Her family only recently learned of her wrongful conviction on September 9.
