(Minghui.org) The Chinese authorities announced on January 20 that a high official, Gao Yichen, was being investigated for serious crimes, and that his assets had been seized. Gao was a former deputy minister of the Ministry of State Security. In addition, he became the deputy director of the 610 Office and deputy secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC) in 2005.

Both the 610 Office and the PLAC have played critical roles in the persecution of Falun Gong, a meditation system based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The group has been severely persecuted by the Chinese regime since July 1999, and a large number of practitioners have been detained, imprisoned, and tortured for their faith. Some even became victims of forced organ harvesting.

The announcement from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) highlighted Gao’s former role with the 610 Office. This shows that even high officials loyal to the CCP can face consequences. As a Chinese saying goes, “Good is rewarded, and evil is punished.” Furthermore, this news reminds the public of the illegitimacy of the 610 Office as an extrajudicial agency.

Gao is not the only leader of the 610 Office to be prosecuted. Li Dongsheng, a former chief of the agency, was indicted in 2015 and sentenced in 2016. Zhou Yongkang, former secretary of the central PLAC and former head of the 610 Leadership Team, was also arrested in 2014 and sentenced in 2015. In fact, similar patterns can be observed in the CCP’s previous political campaigns. For example, Mao Zedong initiated the Cultural Revolution. Shortly after his death in 1976, the CCP targeted several of his followers as the Gang of Four and denounced them for their roles in the bloody movement.

Like Karl Marx and the Soviet Communist Party, the totalitarian CCP focuses on controlling people and benefiting itself. Behind its series of political campaigns that harmed China as a nation is the CCP’s nature of class struggle, hatred, and lies. This is why the regime does not tolerate true Chinese culture, including the traditional moral values taught by Falun Gong.

When former CCP leader Jiang Zemin started the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, the practice had already attracted 100 million people, many of whom experienced the benefits that Falun Gong brings to mind and body. Seeing the number of Falun Gong practitioners exceed the number of CCP members, Jiang ordered the establishment of the 610 Office to direct the nationwide suppression of the practice.

The 610 Office is unconstitutional and exerts illegal control over every level of Chinese government, from the central authorities down to the township level. As a result, officials detain practitioners at will and violate their most basic rights.

Information collected by Minghui.org confirms that more than 5,300 practitioners have lost their lives in the persecution. Through the extralegal agency of the 610 Office, one can catch a glimpse of the CCP’s brutality and trampling of human rights.
