(Minghui.org) I recently had two experiences that helped me realize the importance of looking inward, even when I encountered something that seemed trivial.

I became thirsty one evening while I read Zhuan Falun. I went to the kitchen to get some water. On the table I saw a bottle of kvass (a fermented low-alchohol beverage) and decided to drink it. I read for a while, and then I went to bed.

When I woke up the next morning, I felt strange. I sat up and started sending forth righteous thoughts, but I felt they weren’t as powerful as usual. I looked inward, but couldn’t find the reason why I felt that way. I drank the rest of the bottle of kvass that evening and I went to bed.

On the third day, when I woke up and started sending forth righteous thoughts, I felt my power was still weak. I wondered if I did something wrong, and I needed to examine myself further.

“Could it be the kvass drink?” I looked up the ingredients and discovered that the drink contains 0.3% to 2% alcohol—its a low-alcohol drink.

Master told us clearly in Zhuan Falun,

“Don’t practitioners have gong in their bodies? Different forms of gong and some supernormal abilities manifest on the surface of your body, and they are all pure. As soon as you drink alcohol, they will all immediately leave your body. In a split second, your body will have nothing left, as they all fear that odor.” (Lecture Seven, Zhuan Falun)

Even though there’s a small amount of alcohol in kvass, it had a big impact on my gong. I didn’t think of this when I drank it. I felt grateful for Master’s hint, which helped me realize the seriousness of “trivial” things. I no longer drink this kind of beverage.

I began buying nectarines from the fruit market because the freshest ones are available there. My gums hurt one day. I thought to myself, “Could it be my attachment to a particular food?” I remembered my attachment to nectarines, and thought: Master is helping me let go of this attachment. I stopped thinking about fresh nectarines, and two days later, the pain in my gums disappeared.

We are cultivating among everyday people, and it’s only natural that we may develop various attachments. However, as long as we truly pay attention to looking inward and measure everything with the Fa in our words and actions, it can all be rectified. Looking within is truly a magic tool.

I’m a young practitioner, and this is the first time I’ve submitted an article to Minghui.org to share what I experienced and enlightened to in cultivation. I feel that writing down my experiences helps me strengthen my main consciousness, and let go of my desires and attachments. I’m determined to keep improving myself and immerse myself.

The above is only some personal understanding. Please kindly point out anything improper.
