(Minghui.org) Greetings, Master! Greetings, fellow practitioners around the world!
I began practicing Falun Dafa in the summer of 1998, and I’m now 71 years old. I dropped out of school in the fourth grade, and this is the first cultivation article I’ve written. On the occasion of the 23rd China Fahui, to thank Master for his salvation and as a testimony to the magnificence and beauty of Falun Dafa, I’ve written about some of my cultivation experiences to report to Master and to share with practitioners.
Due to my limited ability, I narrated parts of it, my sister helped me write it, and fellow practitioners helped edit it. Please kindly point out anything not in line with the Fa.
My Situation Seemed Hopeless
Before I began practicing Falun Dafa, my life was incredibly bitter. My husband was unfaithful and frequently stayed away from home, neglecting both me and our daughter. On top of that, he ran up a mountain of debt. My mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law all mistreated me, often locking me and my daughter out of the house. When creditors couldn’t find my husband, they came after me and demanded payment. I told them, “Every cent I earn at the factory goes straight to my mother-in-law. I don’t even have money for breakfast, and my sister-in-law pays for my lunches at the factory—how could I possibly pay you back?” Seeing that I truly had nothing, they eventually stopped bothering me.
I returned home from work and saw a bowl of leftover rice. I thought I would heat it up to eat before I headed out to the fields—a task that usually kept me away until eight or nine in the evening. But my mother-in-law snatched the bowl and dumped the rice on the ground. Then she even threw a basin of water over the coals and put out the fire. I didn’t dare say a word and simply left for the fields, which spared me from a beating at the hands of my brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
I Begin Practicing Dafa
In the summer of 1998, when I had reached a dead end and was contemplating ending my life, I felt a strong urge to visit my second older sister one last time. When I arrived, she was listening to Master Li Hongzhi’s lectures from Jinan, so I joined her.
As I listened, I felt that what Master was teaching was truly wonderful. After the first lecture concluded, I felt a sudden jolt, and a warm current surged from the top of my head all the way down to the soles of my feet. I asked my sister what this meant. She replied joyfully, “You have a predestined connection with Falun Dafa! After hearing just one lecture, Master is already looking after you. You should start practicing right away!”
I said, “Alright! I will practice.” The moment I said those words, it felt like all the troubles that had weighed on my mind for years vanished. My sister taught me the five exercises and gave me a copy of Zhuan Falun.
I opened Zhuan Falun when I returned home and—to my amazement—every character in the book was glowing with a golden light, and I saw colorful Falun spinning. I realized: “This is truly a precious, divine book. I must practice Falun Dafa diligently.” In the beginning, a voice would call out to me around 3:00 a.m. every morning, “Get up and do the exercises!” I knew it was Master’s Fashen (law body) calling me.
My first major challenge was the fifth exercise—the sitting meditation—which requires sitting in the full-lotus position. My legs were in excruciating pain. One day, Master’s law body woke me again: “Get up and do the exercises!” I hesitated, thinking, “My legs hurt too much. Maybe I’ll skip it today.” But then I heard, “Get up and do the exercises! Your legs won’t hurt today.”
I got up and began doing the exercises, and, sure enough, my legs did not hurt at all, and I was able to sit in the full-lotus position for half an hour without any trouble. I can now sit in the full-lotus position for over an hour with no difficulty whatsoever.
I’m Able to Read Dafa Books
The second challenge I faced was that I did not recognize many of the characters when I read the teachings. I would write them down and ask whoever I happened to meet what they meant. Before long, I was able to read Zhuan Falun fluently. I was gradually also able to read Master’s other 40-plus books.
By diligently studying the teachings, practicing the exercises, and strictly holding myself to the universal principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I learned to always consider others, let go of past grievances, remain tolerant and patient, and treat my family with kindness.
My Family Changes
A month later, not only had all my ailments vanished, but my husband began to take care of the family and my daughter stopped associating with the rowdy, disreputable crowd she had been running with. Even better, my mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law began treating me with kindness. I was a happy person, and our household became harmonious. This must be what Master meant when he recalled, “bathed in divine light, conduct and thought become right.” (Lecture Three, Zhuan Falun)
Handling Mistreatment Without Resentment
A coworker whose husband was unemployed asked if her husband could raise ducks in a pond that belonged to my in-laws. I consulted with my husband, and he agreed. However, less than a month later, the ducks contracted a disease, and many died, resulting in a financial loss. My coworker’s husband took his frustration out on me.
While my husband was away one time, he grabbed me by the throat with both hands, leaving four bloody imprints. Still not satisfied, he punched and kicked me, breaking two of my ribs and leaving me in such agony that I couldn’t move. I recalled Master’s teachings:
“What is a heart of great forbearance? As a practitioner, the first thing you should be able to do is to not fight back when you are beaten or sworn at—you must be tolerant. Otherwise, what kind of practitioner will you be?” (Lecture Nine, Zhuan Falun)
I did not curse him, cry out for help, or fight back. Although I am quite tall and physically strong, I am a Dafa practitioner, and I understood that this was either a settling of a karmic debt or a way to help me eliminate karma. It was, in a sense, a good thing, so I endured it without any resentment or hatred.
He dragged me to the pond and held my head under water, intending to drown me. At that moment, I thought, “I still have a mission to assist Master in the Fa-rectification and save sentient beings. I cannot simply perish here by drowning!” I cried out in my heart, “Master, save me!” As if he’d gotten an electric shock, he immediately let go, scrambled frantically out of the water, and crawled toward the road.
I knew in my heart that Master had saved me, but because of my broken ribs, I was unable to climb out of the pond. When my husband drove in and saw me floundering in the water, he pulled me out and took me home. He asked what had happened, and I gave him a brief account. He wanted to confront the man, but I stopped him. He also wanted to call the police to have the man arrested, but I wouldn’t allow that, either. I said, “I am a practitioner. It is a heavenly principle that good and evil are repaid in kind. Let’s just leave everything to Master, shall we?”
Divine Justice Served
When my coworkers heard what had happened, they were furious and condemned him, saying, “He’s completely heartless!” “He sponged off others—eating and drinking at their expense without paying a cent—and then went on to torment them so viciously.” “He’s truly despicable.” Because my ribs were broken and I couldn’t work, I took over two months of sick leave. I never asked him to cover my lost wages or medical expenses.
My second sister was also outraged when she heard about it. I said, “If I owed him a debt from some past life, then perhaps I’ve paid that debt off. And if I didn’t owe him anything, then he has given me virtue. And since having virtue is essential for attaining a higher spiritual level, isn’t that actually a good thing? There’s a saying: ‘People may bully the kind-hearted, but Heaven will not.’ If he has committed acts that are intolerable under the laws of Heaven, how could he possibly fare well?” My second sister agreed, “You’re right. Let’s not lower ourselves to his level; it’s best to leave it to Master and the divine to handle.”
Not long after, the man fell ill with a terminal disease and passed away. The principle that good and evil are met with retribution—often manifesting within one’s own lifetime—truly came to pass.
Sending Righteous Thoughts at Close Range
Some years ago, a few other practitioners and I frequently went to locations such as the municipal Chinese Communist Party (CCP) committee offices, prisons, detention centers, and places where practitioners were being subjected to brainwashing to send righteous thoughts. We wanted to clear out the dark minions and rotten demons—the evil entities and factors—lurking within these dens of darkness, as well as those associated with the evil specter of communism and the CCP. We wanted to help detained practitioners maintain righteous thoughts and actions so that they could break free from these dark places as soon as possible. Under Master’s compassionate protection, we twice encountered potentially dangerous situations, yet we emerged unscathed.
Rescuing Elderly Practitioners
One morning, several of us fellow practitioners went to a district detention center to send righteous thoughts when two police vehicles showed up with six police officers and auxiliary police inside. When they saw them, three practitioners left, and three officers went after them. I was standing a bit further away, holding a bunch of leafy greens. I didn’t run, but I noticed three officers seize an elderly practitioner and shove her toward a police car. Realizing she was in danger, I cried out, “Master, please help me! I must rescue this practitioner.”
I ran over to the police car, thrust the bunch of greens into the elderly practitioner’s hands, and said loudly, “Why aren’t you home yet? I’m going to be late for work, and my child is still at home!” The officers were completely taken aback. Seizing the moment, the elderly practitioner broke free and ran away.
Once the officers regained their composure, they grabbed me and asked, “Who are you? Are you with Falun Dafa? Show us your ID card!”
I pushed them aside and retorted, “Who carries an ID card when they’re heading to work? I don’t have time for this—I’m going to be late!” With that, I took off running.
The four officers stood there, but they called out, “Don’t run so fast! Watch out for traffic—stay safe!” Perhaps it was Master using their voices to remind me! Under Master’s compassionate protection, all five of us practitioners managed to escape safely and return home.
Don’t Let Them See Me
One year, five of us went to a brainwashing center (which the CCP calls a “legal education class”) in another certain district. Our goal was to send righteous thoughts at close range to eliminate the evil communist specter behind everyone in that den of evil, thereby easing the pressure on the practitioners held there and helping to disintegrate the brainwashing center.
As it happened, the younger sister of one of our practitioners lived in a nearby village. We first put up truth-clarification stickers throughout the village, and then went door-to-door distributing copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. We arrived at the home of the practitioner’s sister to send righteous thoughts at close range. A villager reported us, and police officers from the local station surrounded the house. They forced their way in and started to take us away. With firm faith in Master and the Fa, I said, “Master, please protect me. Make me invisible to them.” As a result, several police officers walked right past me—back and forth—yet they truly did not see me.
Once they left, I quickly called another practitioner and asked her to contact others in the area to send righteous thoughts to help those who had been arrested outside the brainwashing center so they could return home safely.
After I got home, I learned what happened to the other four. Once they were forced into a police vehicle, one practitioner whispered to the others, “I’ll make a run for it first. When they go after me, you all run, too.” She dashed out of the police vehicle and took off, with three officers in pursuit. She scrambled over hedge rows and leaped across small ditches, covering a significant distance before the police managed to surround her. Even then, although the three officers grabbed her, they couldn’t hold her down, and she managed to break free and escape again.
She eventually reached a villager’s home, where the resident was stunned to see her covered from head to toe in mud. The practitioner quickly said, “Auntie, please don’t be afraid. I ran into some bad people—may I stay here for just a moment? I’ll be on my way shortly.” About half an hour later, when it got quiet and there were no longer any signs of the police outside, she washed her face, thanked the kind-hearted woman once more, and headed home.
As the three practitioners in the police car got out, intending to flee, they were intercepted by three police officers. Just then, the sister of one of the practitioners arrived with a group of her friends—people with whom she often played cards—and they surrounded the officers. Some of them, who happened to know the officers, started saying things like, “These are just good people who practice kindness.” “They haven't done anything wrong.” “Why are you arresting them?” and so on. The three practitioners managed to slip away.
Under the protection of our compassionate Master, and with the support of the righteous thoughts of many other practitioners nearby, we were able to navigate this sudden tribulation, maintaining our faith in Master and the Fa, upholding righteous thoughts and actions, and ultimately neutralizing a perilous situation.
Protecting Dafa Materials
Before 2010, we primarily relied on large-scale material production sites, where several practitioners worked together to produce materials. I also participated. The advantage of these large sites was that experienced practitioners with technical skills were present to provide guidance. One could learn things quickly and acquire a comprehensive range of technical abilities—such as producing Dafa books, creating DVDs, accessing the internet, downloading content, printing, binding, and troubleshooting technical issues. If one was diligent, these skills could be mastered in no time.
The drawbacks, however, were significant: the large number of people involved made the site a conspicuous target, the volume of supplies required was high, and there was frequent foot traffic from those coming to collect Dafa books and truth-clarification materials. This made the site vulnerable to surveillance by the police and increased the risk of being reported by ordinary people who were unaware of the truth. If such a large site were compromised, it would not only lead to the arrest of many practitioners but also result in a major loss of Dafa’s resources.
On one occasion, I had just left the production site to retrieve something from my home next door and was getting ready to return when I discovered that over 20 police officers had surrounded the building, targeting both the site on the floor below and the one on the floor above. They arrested all the practitioners who were there and confiscated everything—computers, printers, disc burners, and a vast quantity of supplies—loading it all into a large truck and hauling it away.
With Master’s help, I remained calm. My first thought was that I had to urgently notify the practitioners who were on their way to collect materials that the site had been surrounded by police and they needed to turn back immediately.
After the police left, I used my key to open the door to the production site. I quickly located 1,500 yuan in banknotes with messages about Dafa printed on them and took them with me to pass on to other practitioners.
I contacted a few practitioners, and we returned with two electric tricycles equipped with cargo beds to retrieve the remaining materials—truth-clarification literature, supplies, paper cutters, spare parts, discs, and more—that the police hadn’t taken. To avoid being captured by surveillance cameras, we could not use the main entrance. Instead, we moved the items from inside the rooms to a second-floor terrace. From there, using ropes and baskets, we carefully lowered the materials down from the roof terrace behind the building to the ground, where we loaded them onto the tricycles. We collected four loads and relocated everything to a safe place in two separate trips. With Master’s strengthening, I had no fear. My only thought was to protect Dafa’s resources from further loss and ensure they wouldn’t be seized by the police. Looking back, however, I did feel a lingering sense of fear.
At nine o’clock the next morning, I saw four police officers arrive in a patrol car, accompanied by a truck and four hired movers. Before long, I watched them and their empty vehicles drive away. I can only imagine the expressions on their faces when they opened the door and found the place entirely cleared out. We were truly fortunate to have moved the remaining items just in time the day before.
As material production sites began to spring up everywhere, I eventually established my own home-based site.
Although there are still many areas where I have yet to cultivate myself well, in the limited time remaining before Fa-rectification concludes, I will strive forward with even greater diligence. I will diligently do the three things that Master has asked us to do, seize every moment to save more people, and return home with Master.
Thank you, Master! Thank you, practitioners for your assistance!
