(Minghui.org) A 53-year-old woman in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, was sentenced to three years and nine months for her faith in Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.
Ms. Zhu Yuchi, born in May 1972, was arrested on July 21, 2025, by Runzhou District Domestic Security Office agents. They placed her in the Zhenjiang City Detention Center, where she remains. It is unclear when exactly she was indicted, tried, or sentenced. She is appealing the wrongful conviction.
Ms. Zhu, a businesswoman, took up Falun Gong in 1997 and soon recovered from her illnesses. After the communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong in July 1999, she held firm to her faith and was repeatedly targeted by the authorities.
Ms. Zhu was previously arrested on June 22, 2010, while she was living in Suqian City, Jiangsu Province. She was taken to a brainwashing center located in a hotel. The police pounded on the table and ordered her to renounce her faith. They also subjected her to various forms of torture, including long-term standing, sitting in a chair with her hands cuffed to the chair arms, and sleep deprivation.
Ms. Zhu was given criminal detention on July 6, 2010, and issued a formal arrest warrant one month later on August 4. She was then moved to the Suqian City Detention Center.
The Suqian City Court sentenced Ms. Zhu to three and a half years on May 19, 2011. She was admitted to the Jiangsu Province Women’s Prison on August 9 that year. She was released on parole on January 18, 2013.
Ms. Zhu’s husband and over 20 of their clients, employees, and their family members were also implicated in the 2010 arrest. They were handcuffed and interrogated. Some quit Ms. Zhu’s company afterwards.
