(Minghui.org) Two women in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, were admitted to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison in 2025 because they practice Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.
Ms. Hou Guihua, in her 60s, was arrested in 2024 and sentenced to three to four years by the Ranghulu District Court. Ms. Wang Yan, around 60, was arrested in October 2024 after being shadowed by a plainclothes officer. She was put in the Daqing City Detention Center and was later sentenced to an unknown term by the Sartu District Court.
Other details of the women's arrests, indictment, trial, and sentencing remain to be investigated. Both women were incarcerated before for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Hou Served a Prior 3-Year Sentence
Ms. Hou was arrested on July 11, 2008, by officers from the Chengfeng Police Department. They raided her home and put her in the Daqing City Detention Center. She stood trial at the Ranghulu District Court on December 1, 2008. Judge Xing Guojun later sentenced her to three years. She was sent to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison.
Ms. Wang Previously Jailed for 7 Years
Ms. Wang taught at the Heilongjiang Bayi Agricultural University, but she was fired after the persecution of Falun Gong began. While she was still living in Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province, she was given one year of forced labor and was later sentenced to seven years in prison.
Ms. Wang was arrested on July 15, 2000, by Mishan City 610 Office agents and police officers. While she was held at the Mishan City First Detention Center, she was slapped in the face by director Ma Baosheng, and her head and body were pricked with needles by officers Ju Hongjun and Liu Xiaohu. The police praised each other because they were no visible wounds on her body.
Three months later on October 23, Ms. Wang was given one year of forced labor and was transferred to the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp. She was released in July 2000 but she was arrested again on January 2, 2002. She was savagely beaten and tortured at the Mishan City First Detention Center. Director Ma and Han Yuming handcuffed and shackled her. They linked the cuffs and shackles in a way such that she could neither stand up nor sit down. She was in excruciating pain. When she went on a hunger strike in protest, she was force-fed food laced with unknown drugs. After 20 days on the hunger strike, she was taken to the Mishan Hospital for IV injections and continued force-feeding.
The Mishan City Court sentenced Ms. Wang to seven years on an unknown date. She lost her appeal and was admitted to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison on March 2, 2003. She went on a hunger strike, and guard Lyv Jinghua and inmate Shang Xiaomei pried open her mouth and poured in soy bean flour mixed with salt. Six days later, she was admitted to the in-house clinic when she was on the verge of death. The doctors gave her IV injections. The guards kept force-feeding her and left the mouth-opener and feeding tube in her in between sessions.
From December 1 to 12, 2003, the prison ordered all inmates to participate in military-type training. When Ms. Wang refused to comply, she was beaten, shocked with electric batons, and forced to squat. The guards also stripped her to undergarments and made her stand outside for three days when the temperature was between -22 and -4oF.
Guard Tao Shuping hung Ms. Wang up for two days in March 2004. A month later she was hung up for another two days. In mid-December 2004, the fifth prison district held a meeting to criticize Falun Gong. Ms. Wang and other practitioners took off their uniforms and did the Falun Gong exercises in protest. They were all put in solitary confinement and tortured.
On January 13, 2005, Ms. Wang refused to wear the inmates’ uniform or answer roll call. Guard Tao instructed inmates Yu Nuofang and Sun Yajie to beat her, and she was put in solitary confinement for 15 days. Ms. Wang was hung up from June 5 to 11, 2005.
