(Minghui.org) A woman in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, was admitted to the Inner Mongolia Women’s Prison on March 25, 2026, to serve a two-year term for her faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Wang Fenghua
Ms. Wang Fenghua, 56, was arrested on the evening of June 20, 2025, after being reported for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. The Yuanbaoshan District Procuratorate approved her arrest on July 1.
For seeking Ms. Wang’s release and filing complaints with various government agencies, her daughter, Ms. Wang Xuemei, was arrested on July 25 and held for ten days at the Pingzhuang Detention Center.
Ms. Wang Fenghua was indicted on August 8. She appeared at the Yuanbaoshan District Court on September 8. The judge sentenced her to two years on December 16, 2025. She appealed with the Chifeng City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold her original verdict shortly after. A staffer from the appeals court revealed that they were just “going through the motions” on Falun Gong practitioners’ cases, as the results had long been determined by the Political and Legal Affairs Committee.
Prior Seven-Year Term
This is the second time that Ms. Wang has been sentenced for practicing Falun Gong. She was previously arrested on April 13, 2012, with Ms. Zhai Cuixia, for talking to people about Falun Gong.
The Yuanbaoshan District Court sentenced Ms. Wang and Ms. Zhai to seven and four years, respectively, in September 2012. They were admitted to the Inner Mongolia Women’s Prison in November that year.
While serving time, Ms. Wang suffered torture, including beatings, sleep deprivation, electric shocks, and being forced to sit on a small tool for long hours without moving. The guards and inmates constantly ordered her to write statements to renounce Falun Gong. She was also subjected to forced labor.
The police continued to harass Ms. Wang on a regular basis after she was released.
