(Minghui.org) I was driving on a provincial highway between Pingdingshan and Yuzhou in Henan Province at about 7:00 p.m. this past spring, as darkness was beginning to fall. Although it was classified as a provincial highway, it was actually a narrow four-lane road with two lanes in each direction. A concrete median barrier, nearly 80 centimeters (about 2.6 feet) high, separated the opposing lanes. A constant stream of large trucks filled the air with piercing horns. It was our first time traveling this route, so we were completely unfamiliar with the road conditions.
By the time we reached the midpoint of our journey, it was completely dark. As I approached an intersection, I noticed a large truck in the opposite lane had stopped in the middle of the intersection. Its position created an optical illusion, making it appear to be in a designated left-turn lane. (In fact, roads like this do not have left-turn lanes. The truck was simply stopped in its lane.) Believing I had enough room, I passed the truck as I drove through the intersection at about 60 kilometers (37 miles) per hour.
Suddenly, I heard a tremendous crash. My first thought was, “Oh no, we’ve been in an accident!” Only then did I realize I had driven directly into the front end of the concrete median barrier at the intersection.
Then, something extraordinary happened. My car seemed to grow wings and rise into the air, as though it were dancing, vaulting the concrete median, and landing back in the proper lane.
The sky was pitch black, and I had no idea how the car managed to vault the barrier. It was unbelievable. All I knew was that the car had risen and leaped incredibly high. My wife, sitting in the front passenger seat, struck her head on the roof, and I, in the driver’s seat, felt the vehicle tip to the right. The incident was terrifying.
After vaulting the barrier, the car kept bouncing and jolting forward, still moving in the right direction. It was truly incredible. Without thinking, I cried out, “Thank you, Master! Thank you, Master! Thank you, Master!”
My wife silently repeated, “Thank you, Master, for protecting us.”
The car rolled several dozen meters before coming to a safe stop on the roadside. Knowing the car had struck the median with tremendous force, I used my phone’s flashlight to examine the vehicle. The front bumper had a dent about 20 centimeters (8 inches) wide, with a depression roughly the size of an egg. There was no other damage. Most importantly, neither my family nor I were injured.
Looking at the scene, we were overwhelmed with gratitude. We knew immediately that Master had saved us. Without Master’s compassionate protection, the accident could easily have destroyed the car and taken our lives.
My wife and I kept repeating, “Thank you, Master. Thank you, Master.” We knew our compassionate Master had dissolved an enormous tribulation for us.
I then drove about 10 kilometers until we reached a nearby town. The owner of one of the shops told us, “This road is very narrow. There are no lights at night, and there are many large trucks. Accidents happen around here all the time.”
Surprisingly, I wasn’t afraid when the accident happened. I simply got out, briefly checked the car, and continued driving. After several more hours on the road, we arrived home safely.
There is one other remarkable detail I would like to share. Before the accident, the road was filled with vehicles traveling both ahead of and behind us, including many large trucks. Yet when the accident occurred, there was not a single vehicle in front or behind us. Had even a few cars been following closely behind, the outcome could have been disastrous.
Whenever I think back on this incident, I still feel a lingering sense of how dangerous it truly was. I am profoundly grateful to our compassionate and great Master. Without his protection, I would not be here today. I kneel to express my deepest gratitude to Master.
