People in Réunion, France Show Support for Falun Gong and Call for an End to the Persecution

(Minghui.org) On July 17 and 18, 2026, Falun Gong practitioners in Réunion, a French overseas region, held events in three cities, Saint-Pierre, Saint-Denis and Saint-Paul, to commemorate the 27th anniversary of their opposing the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. After learning what has been happening during the persecution, many people signed the petition calling for it to end.

Practitioners demonstrated the exercises, talked to people about Falun Gong, and raised awareness of the CCP’s persecution of practitioners in China, explaining in detail what happened to the victims. Many people were deeply moved and signed the petition in support of opposing the persecution. Several said that respecting freedom of belief and putting an end to the persecution is society’s shared responsibility.

University Professor: A Regime that Fears Freedom of Belief Is Extremely Fragile

A French university professor listened attentively as a practitioner explained the situation and said, “Everyone is entitled to the freedom of belief, speech and the right to life. If a regime fears losing power simply because too many people practice a spiritual faith, it demonstrates that the regime is extremely fragile. I stand with you and I call upon citizens and political leaders to take joint action to halt this persecution launched by the CCP.”

I Stand With You and Support All of You Wholeheartedly

Ms. Laetitia, who lives in Saint-Pierre, said she was deeply shocked when she learned about the forced live organ harvesting that is taking place in China.

She said, “I never imagined that such crimes could occur in China. Nor did I realize that organ harvesting affects not only adults, but that even children can fall victim to this organ trafficking too. I find it absolutely horrifying. The tragedy of this goes far beyond what the word ‘horror’ can convey. In my view, these are acts that should never exist and that no one should ever commit.”

She added, “I also feel deep sympathy for the people living there. They are deprived of their freedom and lack the right to express their opinions. Yet, above all, we are human beings. Everyone should have the right to freely express their thoughts and practice their faith.”

She expressed her support for Falun Gong practitioners, “No matter what happens, I will support you. I will keep you in my prayers. I support you wholeheartedly. Please do not give up. Continue to persist in your struggle. I stand with you and support you with all my heart.”

We Must Take Action Immediately

Ms. Mary Box said she felt indignant after learning about the CCP’s state-sanctioned forced live organ harvesting.

She said, “This is murder. It is shocking that such atrocities continue to exist in the 21st century. I cannot comprehend how human beings could commit such acts. They not only deprive these people of freedom of thought, but also take their organs.”

She said, “We must take action immediately. We must drive change. The Chinese people, like all other people in the world, have the right to live in freedom and dignity.”

I Implore You to Put an End to This Persecution

A gentleman came to the booth in front of the Saint-Denis Post Office and learned about what is currently happening in China.

Using translation software, he told a practitioner, “Today, I have come to the Rue Maréchal Leclerc in Saint-Denis, Réunion. I am a mathematics teacher and have always kept an eye on events around the world. I am deeply concerned after learning about the current situation in China and I genuinely care about China’s future. I solemnly call upon China’s leaders to end this persecution, because China deserves a better future. I also earnestly urge the international community to join together to stop this persecution.”

He also said he wished to write an article for publication in a newspaper to let more people know the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

Doctor: One Must Not Sell One’s Conscience for Profit

A doctor told a practitioner that she read online reports regarding forced organ harvesting in China. Initially, she found it hard to believe that such things could actually happen. Later, when she learned that based on numerous international investigations, Falun Gong practitioners were targeted as a source of organs due to their good health, and that allegations of forced organ harvesting for massive profit had drawn sustained international attention.

When she found out that a group of Falun Gong practitioners are subject to such inhumane persecution just for cultivating peacefully and many mainstream international media outlets had long remained silent on this matter, she was shocked and distressed.

She said, “Humanity will feel ashamed of those who sold their consciences to the devil for personal gain. We are all members of one big family and God's children. We must be united to oppose the forces of evil that seek to destroy humanity. Otherwise, an increasing number of people will lose their bright future.”

Throughout the two-day event, signatures and words of support converged into a collective voice against the persecution. An increasing number of Réunion residents expressed their hope that more people would learn the truth and join in to put an end to this persecution, which has continued for the past 27 years.
