(Minghui.org) While we know how important it is to send forth righteous thoughts, we must not overlook purifying ourselves.

As a part of Dafa, if we lack a clear understanding and fail to cleanse our minds in a timely manner, the evil will hide in the dimensions where we harbor attachments. By cleaning out the evil within our own field, the total amount of evil is reduced.

For over 20 years, I have rarely been affected by external disturbances. I think this due to my habit of sending righteous thoughts that I have done over the long term. I place great importance on making use of any spare moments to send forth righteous thoughts and cleanse myself.

As early as 20 years ago, I established a routine of dedicating half an hour a day specifically to cleansing myself. I also developed the habit of sending forth righteous thoughts anytime and anywhere—a practice I call “daily maintenance” (protective cleansing).

Here is what I do: Whenever my righteous thoughts are not strong and I find myself with some idle time, I focus on clearing away the attachments I harbor. For instance, if I am struggling with lust, I specifically target the arrangements made by the old forces regarding lust. I also address concerns related to safety, physical health, finances, and so on. I cleanse my own dimensional field anytime and anywhere.

In addition, I make a point of setting aside dedicated time each day for cleansing my mind. By doing this consistently over the long term, the amount of evil cleansed and the cumulative effect becomes clearly visible. In the beginning, I was inconsistent, but thanks to Master’s arrangements and guidance, I was able to persevere and do it properly.

One afternoon, I was resting my head on my desk to take a nap. Since I had formed the habit of sending righteous thoughts anytime and anywhere, I instinctively added a thought to cleanse myself. The moment that thought arose, I saw a powerful laser beam shoot into the area beneath my left ribs, shattering a large mass of black substance.

In reality, my level of righteous thought at that moment wasn’t as intense or strong as it usually is during formal sessions. Encouraged by this experience, I decided to keep doing it regularly over the long term.

I realized that we have plenty of such “spare moments” in our daily lives—before bed, while walking from one place to another, during breaks at work, as we drive, and so on. If we consistently make use of these moments, the cumulative time adds up, and the results should be quite noticeable. That is why I have kept it up for so many years.

I want to remind fellow practitioners experiencing sickness karma to redouble their efforts.

I read an article on the Minghui website by a practitioner who described something he saw with his celestial eye: To undermine a practitioner’s confidence about sending forth righteous thoughts, the old forces ensure that, when it comes to sickness karma, changes only begin to appear when 97% of the karma has been cleared away; significant changes only occur at the 98% mark, and a state of general recovery is reached only at 99%. This aligns with my own experience. We must learn from this.

I have observed that many practitioners dealing with sickness karma—and those assisting them—lose confidence in sending righteous thoughts and stop their efforts simply because there was no immediate, obvious change. Many gave up halfway, resulting in losses.

Especially when it comes to safety, in an emergency—to put it bluntly—we must send forth righteous thoughts with a do-or-die determination.

Ten years ago, a massive wave of persecution struck our area. During that crisis, a fellow practitioner sent forth righteous thoughts tirelessly around the clock for several days with sheer determination. Ultimately, that wave of persecution gave way, and all the practitioners were released. Even ordinary people spoke up in our defense. Practitioners were greatly encouraged by this. We should draw upon these experiences and lessons.

Doing this well takes persistence over the long haul. Don’t lose confidence just because we don’t see results right away. The volume and effectiveness of the results are predictable.
