The Experiences of Practitioners from Guangzhou City

Practitioner Zheng Gui-ying, female, 33 years old, college degree. She lives in the Tianhe South Road #48-304, Guangzhou City. On February 22 of 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, but the Appealing Office in the Yong-ding Gate has already been closed. So she decided to unfurl the banner of Falun Dafa to express her will. She was taken to the Tiananmen Square police station shortly after she carried out her plan. At 2:30pm, she was questioned by a police officer but she refused to answer any questions. She was then back-handcuffed (with one hand coming down from above the shoulder, and the other hand coming up from the lower back --- an extreme torture that can lead to death). She had been handcuffed like this for over one hour. The police also started to beat up her body, her head and her face. Later, the police found a wooden comb from her bag and used it as a weapon to hit her head. Later, the comb was broken. Her nose bled from the beatings. Her face was beaten up to lose shape. She had been tortured for over one hour.

Practitioner Ms. Wang Ying, 41 years old, college degree. She was a technician in the Earth Chemistry Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Science in Guangzhou. On February 28, she was called to the office of the Party secretary, Mr. Zhao Zheng-hua, to accept the "thought education". Secretary Zhao forced practitioner Wang to turn in the small Falun Emblem she carried on her clothes and also to write a pledge that she would not go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Practitioner Wang refused to do that and she was then detained illegally in the secretary office and a conference room for over 9 hours. She was guarded by the security officers of the institute. At around noon of March 3, practitioner Wang Ying was again called to the Wu-shan police station of Guangzhou City and was demanded to promise not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She again refused to do that. Then, she was thrown into the Tang-xia detention center of Tianhe sub-police department of Guangzhou City at 10pm of the same day under the accusation of "spreading Falun Dafa". She was forced to work for more than 12 hours per day. She got released on the morning of March 18.

Practitioner Ms. Li Yue-qiu, 50 years old, college degree. She is an accountant, and the president of the Guest Market Department of Bei-xiu Tower of Guangzhou City. At the end of last December, she was arrested and detained in the Tang-xia detention center because of her participation in a small-scale Falun Dafa experience sharing conference. She was detained for more than 15 days, which is the legal limit for administrative detention. Later, she was transferred to criminal detention. She is still in custody. She is forced to work for over 12 hours per day. She has been detained there for over 100 days. The condition there is very bad. She is not allowed to practice Falun Gong. Now her family members all worry about her health. Other practitioners who had been detained together with her have been sent to labor camps to serve forced-labor "education" for up to three years.

Practitioner Ms. Xu Hong-xia, 31 years old, Master degree in children psychology, and an official of the Women Association of Guangzhou City. She got arrested for appealing in Beijing in last November. She got detained for 15 days afterwards. Only a few days after she got released, she got arrested again when having a meal at the home of practitioner Luo Mu-luan. On February 3, she was released temporarily for going home to spend the Chinese New Year. At the end of February, she got arrested again at home by the police officers of Guangdong Province and was sentenced to two years of forced labor "education". She is now being detained in the Cha-tou women labor camp.

Practitioners Shi Lei and Zhu Li, who are a couple, Lin Gang and his wife, and another couple got arrested when they were exchanging experience of cultivating Falun Dafa at home. Each of them was given 15 days of administrative detention. Practitioner Shi Lei was transferred to criminal detention after serving the 15 days of administrative detention.

Practitioners Lin Xiang, Lin Kai, Zhao Yu, Shen Li, Song Hong-feng and Wang He got arrested in a restaurant in Zhong-shan City of Guang-dong Province in last December before the Macao's return to China. Practitioner Lin Kai was sent to the Tie-pu Wang-shan-hong labor camp in his hometown in Chaozhou City for 3 years of forced-labor "education". Another 5 local practitioners are also serving 2 to 3 years of forced-labor "education" in the same labor camp, because they had gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Practitioners Zhao Yu, Shen Li and Song Hong-feng are serving the 2 years of forced-labor "education" in the Cha-tou women labor camp of Guangzhou City. Now, about 22 practitioners are being detained in the Cha-tou Women Labor Camp of Guang-zhou City. They have to work for 14 to 15 hours per day. They have to make 120 flowers per day, but one can only finish 80 flowers in normal working hours. Therefore, they have to work extra hours until late night in order to finish that workload. At around 7am to 8am of next day, they start to work again. They are prohibited to practice Falun Gong there. One night, practitioner Zhao Yu and another practitioner were handcuffed and hung up for a whole night because of having practiced Falun Gong for 15 minutes. They could only touch the ground by their tiptoes. On the next day, they were still demanded to work. Practitioner Lin Xiang and Wang He are serving 2 years of forced-labor "education" in the Chi-ni labor camp of Guangzhou City. They are forced to work for 15 hours per day.
