Additional Persecution News from China – July 4, 2014 (14 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 7 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 12 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Yilong County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wu Chunqiong Sentenced

Ms. Wu Chunqiong was sentenced to four years in prison by the county court authorities on July 1, 2014.

2. [Nantong City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Pan Hanyu Detained

Ms. Pan Hanyu is being held in the Nantong Brainwashing Center

3. [Gongyi City, Henan Province] Mr. Wang Wenchang Arrested

Mr. Wang Wenchang was arrested on July 1, 2014. His whereabouts are unknown.

4. [Laiyuan County, Hebei Province] Five Arrested

Ms. Meng Xuehui, Ms. Duan Guiying, Ms. Zhao Shumei and Ms. Dong Shuge went to Dazhangjiafen Village in Yinfang Town to raise awareness about Falun Gong and the persecution on July 3, 2014. They were turned over to the police and arrested, along with their taxi drive Mr. Li Fuxiang. Mr. Li and his mini bus were taken to the Laiyuan Domestic Security Division.

5. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Xiuyun Detained

Ms. Xu Xiuyun was arrested by police from the Linghe District for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs on the afternoon of June 29, 2014. Officers from the Jintie Police Station ransacked her home. Ms. Xu is being held in the City Detention Center and a medical report showed that she was suffering from a severe skin disease and pleurisy.

6. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Mr. Guo Zixiang Detained

Mr. Guo Zixiang was arrested at home by Daxinzhuang Police Station officers and Liu Pinglu from the Domestic Security Division on July 1, 2014. He is being held in the Linqing Detention Center. An officer told the family to pay 30,000 yuan for his release.

7. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Cong Lanying, Mr. Yao Ruifa and Ms. Tian Xianyan (two of them were in their 70s) were taken to the Chengli Police Station for informing people about Falun Gong in Huancuilou Square on June 29, 2014. Huancui District 610 Office director Liu Jie confiscated 1,000 yuan from Ms. Tian's purse. Three practitioners were held there and released around midnight.

Liu went to Ms. Tian's workplace, the Hydrographic Office, to harass her again the next day.

8. [Tianjin] Ms. Chen Huifang Detained

Ms. Chen Huifang, 59, was arrested at home by four officers from the Daxuecheng Police Station on July 3, 2014. She is being held in the Xiqing District No.1 Detention Center.

9. [Siping City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yang Xiang Arrested

Ms. Yang Xiang was arrested for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs on May 16, 2014.

10. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Lu Meixiang Detained

Ms. Lu Meixiang was arrested at home by over ten officers from the Beiyuan Police Station and the Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of June 27, 2014. Her home was ransacked and her Falun Gong books, printer, DVD burner and other items were confiscated. Her son, who happened to be visiting her, was also arrested. The son was released that evening and Ms. Lu is being held in the Jinan Detention Center.

11. [Zhangye City, Gansu Province] Mr. Luo Tianwen Sentenced

Mr. Luo Tianwen was sentenced to three years in prison on June 25, 2014. He is being held in the Ganzhou District Detention Center.

12. [Dongkou County, Hunan Province] Ms. Xiao Hongyan Sentenced

Ms. Xiao Hongyan has been sentenced to five years in prison.

13. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Huang Chaozhen Detained

Ms. Huang Chaozhen was arrested at home by Jiangyang District State Security Bureau agents on October 31, 2012. Her home was ransacked and she was taken to the Naxi Detention Center. The Jiangyang District Court authorities tried Ms. Huang on May 9, 2013, and tried her again on the afternoon of November 19, 2013 when she was sentenced to five years in prison. She was transferred to the Longquanyi Women's Prison in Chengdu City on June 10, 2014.

14. [Jintan City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Wang Lanfang Sentenced

The Jintan Court authorities sentenced Ms. Wang Lanfang to three years and seven months in prison on June 10, 2014. Her family was not present when the sentence was announced since no prior notice was given to them.
