Arrested in November 2017 on suspicion of putting up banners with Falun Gong messages along a major highway in Hubei Province, Mr. Xiong Jiwei was sentenced to four and a half years in prison with a 5,000-yuan fine in September 2018. In response to his previous appeal, the intermediate court upheld his sentence without a hearing in December 2018.
When a Chinese man overheard practitioners talking to other tourists about Falun Gong, he asked them, “Can you give me some reading materials, too? You cannot find this back home in China.”
Three members of one family have passed away as a result of the Chinese regime's persecution of Falun Gong.
