Practicing Tolerance

(Minghui.org) When I saw my child playing on his cell phone, I felt uncomfortable about it. Using the cell phone too much can result in a number of physical problems for a person, and playing on the cell phone is an attachment that can ruin one’s concentration. I have talked to him many times about the harm of playing on his phone. I felt that he wasn't paying attention to this. I didn’t want my child to be addicted to it, but how could I convey this to him? 

I previously complained to him about it and forced him to stop playing on his phone, but he rebelled. I kept wondering what was wrong on my part and why I was seeing this. I do not have an attachment to my cell phone, but I have other attachments. For example, I am interested in fashionable clothes and earrings. If I could not afford the stylish clothes I liked, I would think about making alterations to my existing clothes to make them look similar. I've spent quite some time on this. At times, I could not stop thinking about it when doing the exercises or sending forth righteous thoughts. I didn't realize this before. I only knew that I wasted my time.

It was my xinxing that was the problem. I did not do well, at the very least, from this perspective. So my child’s behavior was a reflection of my problem. The universal characteristics of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance control everything. The factors in my cultivation and realm need to be corrected.

Master said:

As a Dafa disciple, we all know that Master Li’s Fa is not a simple statement. It contains a heavenly secret. We might not enlighten to it.

I realized that all aspects of human society have factors to help us cultivate and improve, including the small things around us. When we cultivate on more of a microscopic level, the factors for improvement may appear to be trivial. Often, we do not always remember to look inward and cultivate ourselves when things happen. Without righteous thoughts, we act like an everyday person, and gradually this becomes a habit. It appears that we behave according to our own subjective will. However, we do not know where this thought comes from, yet we use this thought as a standard to measure others. It is really wrong.

Master created the universe and the celestial bodies, including all of us. With the guidance of Master’s Fa, we can walk our path righteously and correct any wrong thoughts and behaviors in a timely manner. I know I did not cultivate well. My child is unknowingly using this misbehavior to point out my attachment.

After this realization, I didn’t think about my son playing on his cell phone, and it seemed as if it had never happened. The ordinary world is an illusion!

My son does not play on his cell phone anymore. He also told me that the cell phone harms the human body and mind; once someone casually looks at it, he will spend a long time on it without even knowing it.

I told him, “The Internet is chaotic. There are all kinds of messy things on it. You are a child. It is good to distinguish good and bad and reject the bad.” My son smiled happily.

Master said:

“When a being is considerate of others in doing things and displays tolerance in the process, it's because his starting point is selfless.” (Teaching the Fa at the 2004 International Fa Conference in New York )

According to Master's teaching, if we can see our shortcomings and tolerate others and understand others, this is a positive factor in the new universe, and it is being selfless.

When the selfish mutating factors in the old universe are to be disintegrated, it will hit us, and appear as so-called interference. If we can measure these things from the perspective of cultivation, then we can distinguish between what's true and false, disintegrate the corrupt factors, correct the variable concepts, and assimilate to the Fa.

We are the most fortunate lives in the universe, because we have Master. He has passed down the universal Fa to us. As long as we cultivate and listen to Master, we will find the situation just as Master said:

“…you’ll see, the shade of willows, the blooms of flowers, a place to rest my head!” (The Ninth Talk, Zhuan Falun)
