Additional Persecution News from China – May 23, 2020 (14 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in nine provinces, where at least 18 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Xiong Meiying’s Pension Withheld

Ms. Xiong Meiying, 72, a retired nurse, was sentenced to a three-and-a-half-year prison term in 2017. Her pension was suspended after she was released from prison on March 23, 2020.

2. [Jining City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Xiaoling’s Pension Withheld

Ms. Li Xiaoling was sentenced to a four-year prison term in October 2013. Her pension was suspended by the Social Security Bureau and more than 140,000 yuan was withheld. Her husband has filed a lawsuit to seek justice and recover the pension.

3. [Bayan County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhang Qingwu Arrested

Mr. Zhang Qingwu from Xinglong Town was arrested by officers from the Xinglong Police Department on the afternoon of May 21, 2020.

4. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Shirang Arrested

Mr. Wang Shirang from Nanliu Town in the Fangzi District was arrested by officers from the Nanliu Police Station on the morning of May 21, 2020. His home was ransacked.

5. [Chongqing] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Liu Jinju from the Rongchang District was arrested by officers from the Guangshun Police Station on May 14, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked.

Mr. Yuan Zhiqiang was arrested by officers from the Beibei District Police Department on May 15. He was taken to the Sanxikou Detention Center in Beibei.

Ms. Chen Jihong was arrested by Lei Tianming and other officers from the Rongchang District Domestic Security Division on May 17. Her home was ransacked, and Falun Dafa books and printed materials were confiscated. She was released later that day.

6. [Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Miao Ping Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Miao Ping, in her 70s, from Funing County, was arrested by officers from the Binhai County 610 Office and the Domestic Security Division on April 3, 2020. She was sentenced to a three-year prison term.

Ms. Miao was taken to a prison, but the authorities there refused to accept her. She is still being held in the Yancheng City Detention Center.

7. [Chuxiong City, Yunnan Province] Mr. Zhu Zhongfu and Ms. Li Weiping Arrested

Mr. Zhu Zhongfu and Ms. Li Weiping were reported to the authorities for distributing Falun Gong materials. They was arrested on May 13, 2020. Their whereabouts are unknown.

8. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Cheng Suqin and Her Husband Arrested

Ms. Cheng Suqin, 50, and her husband from Xinmi City were arrested by plainclothes officers on May 21, 2020. Their whereabouts are unknown.

9. [Suizhou City, Hubei Province] Ms. Li Renying Held in Detention Center

Several officers from Domestic Security Division and the police pried open the door to Ms. Li Renying's home and broke in on May 14, 2020. They ransacked the place and arrested her. She was dragged down the stairs from the third floor.

Ms. Li was taken to the Suizhou City No. 1 Detention Center.

10. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Qu Guiqing Taken to Detention Center

Ms. Qu Guiqing from Changling County was arrested by officers from the Ronghuashan Town Police Station on the morning of November 16, 2018. She was taken to the Yaojia Detention Center.

11. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhi Haihua Arrested

Ms. Zhi Haihua from Hezhuangzi Village, Zunhua City, was arrested by officers from the Tangshan City Domestic Security on the afternoon of May 18, 2020.

12. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Fei Jirong Arrested

Ms. Fei Jirong, 74, from Yongji County, was arrested by officers from the Chengnan Police Station on the evening of May 21, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Photos of the founder of Falun Gong and a DVD player were confiscated. She was released on bail after her family paid 2,000 yuan.

13. [Guilin City, Guangxi Autonomous Region] Mr. Liao Shilong Arrested

Mr. Liao Shilong was followed when he talked to people about Falun Gong on the morning of May 8, 2020. He was arrested by officers from the Xiufeng District Domestic Security Division, the Jiangjunqiao Police Station in the Xiangshan District, and Longquan Residential Community personnel. His home was ransacked.

14. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhang Lanping Arrested

Ms. Zhang Lanping from the Luyang District was arrested at home by officers from the Baohe Police Department and the Binhu Police Station on the morning of May 22, 2020. The officers confiscated Falun Gong informational materials and a laptop.
