(Minghui.org) After being forced to live away from home to avoid being imprisoned for his faith in Falun Gong, a Jinzhou City, a Liaoning Province, native was arrested and sentenced to a three-year prison term.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Wu Baogui's latest sentencing stemmed from his earlier arrest on September 25, 2012, after being followed by the police for months. He was tortured while being detained in the Jinzhou City Detention Center. Ten months later, the right side of his body became paralyzed, due to a cyst growing in the left part of his brain. He was released on bail on July 2, 2013.

The Guta District Court scheduled a court hearing for him on September 29, 2013. He refused to appear in court, as he had done nothing wrong by exercising his constitutional right to freedom of belief.

Three bailiffs went to his home on October 8, 2013, to announce his verdict (length unknown). They attempted to get his signature, but Mr. Wu refused to comply. He soon left home to avoid being taken to prison.

After seven years of wandering about, Mr. Wu was arrested in neighboring Huludao City on May 27, 2020, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. He was first held in the Huludao City Detention Center, then transferred to Jinzhou for a 14-day quarantine.

Mr. Wu was sentenced to three years on June 17, 2020, and he was given a ten-day window to appeal the verdict.

Prior to his latest prison term, Mr. Wu was given another term in 2000 in Jinzhou City Forced Labor Camp.
