Taiwan: Elected Officials Commend Falun Dafa During Events Held in Hualien and Yilan

(Minghui.org) The Chinese Communist Party initiated a nation-wide persecution in China to eradicate Falun Dafa and practitioners on July 20, 1999. Every year practitioners around the world hold events to tell people about the persecution, and call for it to end. This year marks the 23rd year. Practitioners in Hualien and Yilan, Taiwan held activities to expose the persecution and commemorate fellow practitioners who died from the CCP’s brutality.

Activities in Hualien

Practitioners in Hualien held an event on July 17, 2022 at Yueya Bay in Qixingtan, a well-known seaside scenic spot, to commemorate practitioners who died while being persecuted in China. They demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises and displayed information calling on the public to support justice and conscience and help end the persecution. That evening they held a candlelight vigil. Hualien Legislator Fu Kun-chi and Assistant Liu Sung-bin Speaker of the Hualien County Council attended to express their support.

Fu Kun-chi said that he saw practitioners’ determination to let the world know about the persecution. He said the CCP’s live organ harvesting is something that everyone in a democratic society is concerned about. In a democratic society, universal values can be passed down from generation to generation.

Fu Kun-chi, a legislator in Hualien, participated in the candlelight vigil to show his support for Falun Dafa.

Fu Kun-chi participated in the candlelight vigil and said that in Taiwan, a happy island, freedom of religion, freedom of belief, and freedom of assembly are guaranteed by Taiwan’s Constitution. He said that Falun Dafa practitioners, whether in Hualien or in various counties and cities, try their best to convey their request and let more people know the truth.

Practitioner Mr. Liu has come to scenic Yueya Bay for years to distribute information to tourists. He said, “The whole world knows that Falun Dafa is good. Many people are practicing it. People in Taiwan have freedom of belief. Falun Dafa is only persecuted by the CCP. The persecution, especially the live organ harvesting, cannot be tolerated. We hope that the persecution will end as soon as possible.”

Dignitaries Support Falun Dafa During Event in Yilan

A press conference was held in Yilan on July 17. To start off the event, practitioners did the exercises, gave a waist drum performance, held a photo exhibition, and other activities. Ten dignitaries came to support Falun Dafa and condemn the persecution. During their speeches they called on people to speak up for justice, and they jointly condemned the CCP’s persecution.

The event and press conference started with a performance by practitioners’ waist drum team. The atmosphere was lively. At the end of the press conference, the host invited the distinguished guests present to recite the two phrases, “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” They jointly called on the CCP to immediately end the persecution.

County Councilor Lin Li-chi addressed the press conference in Yilan on July 17.

Local dignitaries who attended the event included: Deputy Director Chao Chuan-min on behalf of Yilan County Head Lin Tzu-miao, County Councilor Lin Li, Principal Lin Yi-han of Chonghsing Elementary School, Secretary Chou Chen-Tsun of Yilan Mayor Chiang Tsung-yuan, and others.

“Thank you for your long-term dedication to Falun Dafa,” said County Councilor Lin Li. “Falun Dafa practitioners can be seen all over Taiwan and even the world, telling people the true nature of the CCP and the CCP’s organ harvesting for profit. Such kind deeds have made more people understand Falun Dafa and influenced many people. They see it and silently support you.”

For 23 years practitioners have persisted in clarifying the truth to the world in a peaceful way, and now more and more people are seeing the true nature of the CCP. To date, more than 390 million Chinese people have chosen to withdraw from the Communist Party and its affiliated organizations.

Background: What Is Falun Dafa and Why Is the CCP Persecuting It?

Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) was first introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi in Changchun, China, in 1992. The spiritual discipline is now practiced in over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Millions of people who have embraced the teachings, which are based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and have learned the five exercises, have experienced improved health and well-being.

Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline’s growing popularity as a threat to the CCP’s atheistic ideology and on July 20, 1999, he issued an order to eradicate the practice.

Under Jiang’s personal direction, the CCP established the 610 Office, an extralegal security organization with the power to override the police and judicial systems and whose sole function is to carry out the persecution of Falun Dafa.

Minghui.org has confirmed the deaths of thousands of practitioners as a result of the persecution over the past 23 years. The actual number is believed to be much higher. Countless practitioners have been imprisoned and tortured for their faith.

There is concrete evidence that the CCP sanctions the harvesting of organs from detained practitioners, who are murdered to supply China’s organ transplant industry.
