Additional Persecution News from China – August 8, 2022 (6 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 6 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 8 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yang Wangmei Held in Brainwashing Center
2. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ding Yuanyun Arrested, Ms. Gao Fuling Detained

5. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Niu Fuguo Detained
6. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Fan Shujun Harassed

1. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yang Wangmei Held in Brainwashing Center

Ms. Yang Wangmei, 60, was arrested around August 1, 2022. Her family looked for her in the Residence Committee and was told she was held in the Gutian Brainwashing Center.

2. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ding Yuanyun Arrested, Ms. Gao Fuling Detained 

Ms. Gao Fuling, around 68, and Ms. Ding Yuanyun, about 80, talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in the Dalian Forest Zoo around July 26, 2022. Someone reported them. They were arrested and taken to a police station. Ms. Ding was released. Ms. Gao’s home was ransacked, and she has since been detained in an unknown place.

3. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhao Changyu Sentenced

Mr. Zhao Changyu of Kangma Village, Zaoqiang County, was reported when he talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. He was arrested and held in the Encha Police Station for several days. Officers from the Zaoqiang Town Police Station and the Encha Police Station harassed him at home shortly after he was released. They threatened him. He was abused mentally and physically. As a result, he was unable to walk and was taken to the Shijiazhuang Hospital for treatment.

The officers went to the hospital to harass him. Officers from the Jizhou City Police Department later took over his case and continued harassing him.

In mid-April 2022, the Jizhou Court sentenced him to three-and-a-half-years in prison during a virtual trial. Because he was sick, the sentence was carried out outside of the prison. On June 12 and 13, the court held hearings in his home and sentenced him to six years in prison. They claimed he would be arrested and imprisoned unless his physical exam results showed that he was too sick.

His family can not live a normal life because of the harassment.

4. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Naifen Imprisoned

Ms. Liu Naifen of the Anci District was arrested at home and taken to the Langfang City Detention Center by officers from the Longhe Police Station in November 2021.

In March, 2022, her family went to the detention center to deposit money into her account and they were told she was no longer there. They inquired at many agencies and finally learned that she was held in the Shijiazhuang Women’s Prison. The detention center transferred her to the prison without notifying her family. The prison cited the pandemic as the reason for not allowing her family to visit her.

5. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Niu Fuguo Detained

Mr. Niu Guofu of Dingzhuang Village, Cheng’an County was arrested on July 14, 2022. He was detained for 10 days in a detention center. His computer, two cell phones, and five audio players are still held in the police station. His wife, Ms. Ding Qinfeng, went there twice but failed to have police release him.

6. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Fan Shujun Harassed

Ms. Fan Shujun, 80, of the Huayang District, was harassed at home by community clerks on the morning of July 5, 2022. The clerks were led by Gan Yubin. They did not show any documents, searched the place, seized several Falun Gong books, and tore apart a pair of couplets with Falun Gong messages posted on her door.
