(Minghui.org) Six Chongqing residents were arrested between March 6 and 7, 2023 for their faith in Falun Gong and two of them have been sentenced to prison, Minghui.org recently learned.

Officers from the Jiulongpo District Domestic Security Office and the Yangjiaping Police Station arrested Ms. Huang Yubin, in her 70s, Ms. Zhu Yugui, around 85, and Mr. Gong Shangjian, in his 80s, after receiving a tip that they used bank notes with Falun Gong information printed on them at the New Century Supermarket. Ms. Tan Ping, 72, Ms. Zhu Dahua and Ms. Liu were also arrested around the same time.

Due to strict information censorship in China, Falun Gong practitioners have been using creative ways to raise awareness about the persecution of their faith, including printing information on paper currency.

While Ms. Zhu Yugui, Mr. Gong, and Ms. Zhu Dahua were soon released, Ms. Huang, Ms. Tan and Ms. Liu were admitted to the Huayan Detention Center. Minghui correspondents were unable to get any case updates until recently when they confirmed that Ms. Huang had been sentenced to eight years and four months for possessing 10,000 yuan in paper currency with messages about Falun Gong printed on it; Ms. Tan received three years, also for using the paper currency bearing Falun Gong messages; and Ms. Liu’s case status remains unclear.

Ms. Tan is a retired employee of the Jiulongpo District Construction Factory. She was previously arrested in August 2009 in Guizhou Province. She was first held at the Zitong Drug Rehabilitation Center and then transferred to the Guizhou Province Women’s Forced Labor Camp to serve a one-year term.
