Practitioners in Colombia Mark 27 Years of Protesting CCP’s Persecution

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners peacefully demonstrated in front of the Chinese Embassy in Bogota on July 20, 2026, to protest the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution, which has been going on for 27 years. 

Since the persecution was launched on July 20, 1999, millions of practitioners in China have been subject to various forms of abuse, including police harassment, arbitrary arrests, detentions, tortures, and even forced organ harvesting.

Practitioners started their demonstration at 7 a.m. by reading Falun Dafa’s main book Zhuan Falun. The book has been banned in China since 1999, and anyone possessing it could be arrested or detained.

About 30 minutes after the protest began, several police officers came out from the embassy building and asked practitioners why they were there. The practitioners explained that it was a peaceful demonstration that would include reading, practicing exercises, and handing out informational materials to passersby, as a protest against the persecution in China. The police officers understood the situation and allowed the activity to proceed without interruption.

Practitioners distributed informational flyers on the sidewalk in front of the embassy and told passersby the facts of the CCP’s persecution. Many people expressed their support for practitioners and wanted to learn more about Falun Dafa.

Practitioners distributed informational flyers to passersby on Bogotá’s famous Seventh Avenue. Approximately 2,000 flyers were handed out that day.

Another group of practitioners went to the city of Medellín and distributed flyers to people watching Colombia’s Independence Day Parade, which took place on July 20. Many people attended the celebration and received information about Falun Dafa.

Practitioners distributed about 5,000 informational flyers in Medellín. Many people thanked them and encouraged them to continue raising awareness about the persecution.
