(Minghui.org) The Daxing District Police Department threatened to submit the case against an 84-year-old woman to the local procuratorate and get her indicted.
The ordeal of Ms. Li Shiying, of Fengtai District, Beijing stemmed from her encounter with a woman at Nanhaizi Park (located in neighboring Daxing District), on September 25, 2025. Noticing that the child that the woman held kept coughing, Ms. Li advised her to recite the auspicious phrases of “Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is a mind-body practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Ms. Li has personally seen her health restored through practicing Falun Gong, so she naturally wanted others to enjoy the benefits of the practice too. The woman she ran into at the park, however, reported her to police.
Six officers, including Li, Zhang, and Dong from the Daxing District Police Department broke into Ms. Li’s home the next day. They confiscated a table calendar and two drawings bearing Falun Gong messages. Li and Zhang recorded Dong’s interrogation of her. They refused to reveal their full names. When she was not looking, the police also ripped off the decoration on her window and wardrobe. They crumbed it and tossed it into a trash bin.
The police ordered Ms. Li to go with them for a physical exam. She refused to comply and they left.
In early October 2025, officers Dong and Li returned to Ms. Li’s home. They didn’t see her and told her son that they needed her to do a physical exam. Her son replied that his mother was not going to do it, and they left.
Three other officers harassed Ms. Li at home on December 22. They interrogated her son before talking to her. She asked if she had broken any law, and they replied that they didn’t say she committed a crime. Before leaving, however, they threatened her son that they’d submit his mother’s case to the local procuratorate to get her indicted if she still held firm to her faith and refused to admit her guilt.
